Reluctant Reader Wednesday: Bubonic Panic: When Plague Invaded America by Gail Jarrow

This book covers the past, present, and future of the plague, which will probably come as a surprise to most readers.  Plague wasn’t just something that happened in medieval times?  Yes!  Plague is something that’s still happening now?  YES!!!  

This book is informative enough to make it valuable for assignments, but also gruesome enough to entice reluctant readers.  It’s filled with facts about how the disease works, how it spread at different times in history, and how racism and social ideas affected how governments tried to stop the disease from spreading.  

It’s a good choice for a compelling and educational read, as long as you’re not reading it during dinner!
