After School Jam Session
How was school today? Fine. Did you learn anything important? Maybe. I’m not sure yet. Really? What are you considering? We talked about Howard Odum’s natural trinityof altruism. Maybe I skipped that dayway back in premillennial timesbefore Permaculture Design had taken over deep learning development.Who is Howard Odumand how does his natural trinitydiverge from my traditional Holy…
Buckminster Fuller, mad spittin in 1981
"I hope that we may implicitly instruct the reader in the comprehensive impact of every Where, of any place. This requires development of an idea or theory of place in terms of human being; of space designed as the volumetric expression of successful existence between earth and sky; of space cherishing as it amplifies the experience of being alive, the capability of endless beginnings, and the entrusted liberty of motion; of particular space inexorably connected to multiple spatialities, a particular space that is open-receptive and communicant yet sheltering particular life." — June Jordan, “Letter to R. District Council is considering a new solution: create a District-owned corporation to own and operate a factory that uses robotics to construct and rapidly deliver non-market housing. The goal is to produce high-quality, non-market affordable housing for public providers. These would be affordable rental homes, with rents lower than typical local rates. The factory would build major parts of the homes indoors, such as walls (with windows and doors), floors, roofs, and stairs. These parts would then be delivered by truck and assembled on site.
Buckminster Fuller was right: industrial time-lag is why innovation takes time to become practice, and, as Bucky observed building this way in 1945, the house building industry is longest lag of all.
But the invention must come first.
Works-in-progress from a new drawing.
