Heading off to India in the morning, with my ereader stuffed full of the latest fandom offerings (plus some old favourites and also some old fics that are new to me!) so expect rec posts when I get home.

I need this trip, I haven’t really felt myself since my surgery last month and India is historically one of the places I’m at my happiest, so let’s all pray that I can be healed by good fic and good friends in a place that warms me inside and out.

I’ll be about, wifi-allowing, as I can’t actually keep away from tumblr even when I’m on holiday.

I took this last Friday having arrived at the huge, gorgeous house I’d booked to celebrate my mum’s 60th birthday. Her whole family had arrived (5 siblings, their partners, their children and their children - 32 of us in total) and I’d just stepped out to take a picture of the view across the sea.

I realised how disgustingly happy I was and wanted to capture the moment.

At this point I was 6 days post-surgery so had straightened my curls to keep my hair more manageable and was wearing minimal makeup. Thankfully the approaching sunset cast a flattering light that really did me a favour.

Are you surprised? Why?

I’m surprised that my cutesy bakery fic is so popular when there isn’t much smut in it, and also I’m surprised that my Fics Of Questionable Morality is relatively low because I’d thought this fandom was full of perverts, but then again the series is locked on Ao3 so maybe less accessible.

So I just travelled down to London to spend four hours with @teresa-dances-in-sequins (who is here on her honeymoon) and I can't tell you how lovely and surreal it was. I have long adored her and I was so nervous and giddy all week leading up to today. So I arrive at the pub we chose and before I'm even in the door I'm accosted by this beautiful, petite DOLL of a person, wearing the prettiest dress and the biggest smile. And all my nerves that it would be awkward just evaporated. Her hubby, btw, is so tall and handsome and THE NICEST GUY EVER, really warm and not remotely sour about me eating into their honeymoon time. She's not joking when she gushes about him. And they're SO stupidly and completely in love?? Like, when they look at each other (and they do it a lot) both of their expressions get so soft and dorky. They're essentially this emoji come to life: 😍 And we just talked and drank and ate, and just basked in each other's company for as long as we had (which was NOWHERE NEAR long enough) and now I'm back on my train up North and I could honestly cry.

I am having a hellish ovulation this month. I'm on the waiting list for a laparoscopy to scope out (heh) how bad my endo is and usually I'm like, I've lived with this shit for 17 years so I can handle the NHS waiting list for my non-urgent operation...

...but tonight I'd like to call my gynae consultant and just be like "You know what? Whip it all out. All of it. Like right now, before I stab myself in the abdomen with a potato peeler."
