Seeing him on the phone, she carefully ducks out back into the small hallway leading to the bedroom -that Bucky probably didn’t sleep in- and bathroom. Back pressed against the wall she listened to him intently. She had been the nosiest out of all the kids growing up.

‘Adopted’ brought tears to her eyes. He… needed advice… because he brought her in. Adopted her. There is something a little bit weird about that, it seemed like it was only yesterday that she was instructing him on how to kill the dogs.

Slowly moving to sneak past him, she tried not to alert him as she moved into the kitchen. Slinking around was something she was good at. Slinking and being nosy, like some sort of spy…

Another night in the studio, another night working until 3am. Of course she took breaks, and one big break to come back to the apartment to take her special needs dog outside and play a bit before returning. Khloee always had these stretches where she just painted and painted and painted until it was 3am and she needed to go home and take her dog out before bed.

Standing back from her station, she looked somewhat prideful as she idly washed her hands with her paint cloth. Returning to her easel, she moved the canvas off the frame, moving to put it up to dry. Settling it on the drying rack she hums to the music in her headphones.

but then the creaky metal door slams. 

she didn't flinch, since her flinch-instinct was severely suppressed. but she settled the painting down before pulling out an earphone and turning.

“You're not a student.” She chuckles, knowing damn well who this guy is. “You probably shouldn't be here. Might get a fine.”

Listen, ever since dad left, ever since she left, the people she called family became more and more radicalized, launching the dogs earlier than anyone could of predicted. Amanda was running as fast as she could away, the main battery component of the dog she disabled in her bag, her gasmask and high tech anti radiation suit on and clothes over it. She knew how it seemed like she was a bad guy, a radical amongst radicals, but she was at least trying to be good!

Seeing the winter solider making chase, she makes a little bit of sloppy decisions, ending in her getting stuck in a dead end. 

Fuck.

pivoting, she moves, fist connecting with jaw with some immense force behind it, nearly all of her weight, actually.

“Im sorry!” She apologized, her voice letting go the fact that she was young. “Youre really cool but i gotta go.” She states, moving to try and climb up the fence before the man yanks her down

There were pros and cons to her right handed work, of course. Critique was generally positive for her more dramatic pieces, saying that the technique she used -or lacked because of how unprecise her right was- amplified the message. She even sold a lot of her right handed work at a gallery showing of her current “right hand era.” She was thankful it was a charity event. Otherwise it was too business-y

Khloee still had no earthly idea how she talked Bucky into sitting for a painting for her. She just Kinda asked? didn't even need to send in a mood board, say what pose she wanted to do or that she’d want to show off the arm? 

The whole thing made her a bit nervous, something she hadnt felt in a while.

“Hey, c'mon in.” She states, moving to adjust the paint stained kerchief that kept her arm immobilized and ushering the other in “I'm going to up the heat, I was gunna ask if you being shirtless was okay but...”

[txt] Leagues ahead of you. Walked to the nearest town and found a Denny's 

She joked. not wanting to really tell him the extent of her injuries' until he got here. Pain radiated from nearly every part of her. Khloee was nearly certain she broke her shoulder, she landed and skidded on it while her arms protected her head. She's pretty sure that her thick coat was shredded in the back and on the arms, since she can feel the road rash bleeding on her right forearm and shoulder blade. Her jeans were shredded at one kneecap, then the bottom of it bodied from possibly scraping her kneecap. Overall, Khloee was glad that she picked a time that the car slowed to 60mph.

When she made it to the Denny's nearly every waitress had a heart attack. They were all the motherly type too, mid 40s, Massachusetts mothers. They had given her free food, sat her near the windows when she lied and said she was ‘waiting for her dad to pick her up’, Cut her food when she was having trouble with it, Even listened as she made up a bullshit story about being in a car with a speeding drunk driver and deciding to bail before anything bad happened.

Crit week was always a bit much. It was, to be fair, a long semester. Returning, Dealing with everything that's changed in the past five years, having to redo the first few weeks of college before getting into any new activities. that plus suits coming to her apartment on occasion and asking for help on stuff she had little control over made the whole thing just a bit too much. Taking a deep breath she straightened out her skirt and shoved that shit far into the back of her mind. Its crit time.

There was, ya know, a guest. a guest she knew. her brows furrow seeing him in the group of faculty going around the room looking at her work. Casually, she emerges on his left as he faces one of the wall to ceiling pieces.

“You know you could've visited me in 2-80 and not have had the awkwardness of being a guest critic.” she states, looking around the room. “unless you like doing guest critiques for like 15-25 painting freshman...”

Suffice it to say it’s been a rough couple of days. Somehow, some way, the rumors of her being a witch of the necromancy sort came into the wrong hands. when a militant group came to retrieve her by force then another came to stop that group. It all became just abit too much for her.

Now in a plane, cuffed, she stares out into the middle distance. She’s been in tears since the first attack, and though her sobs have quieted significantly, the tears and the stuttering breath wasn’t contained. Little red freckles on white cheeks, burst blood vessels from crying so much for so long for so hard.

Everything. Everything was gone. Her cottage, the chickens, the cows, the cats…

Who knew bathroom tile got so dirty. She remembers how bad the place needed a clean as she try’s to calm herself, applying the breathing technique that Bucky told her to, and shaking hands finding spoons fur grounding.
