you’d forgotten exactly when the chaos broke out, somewhere between trying to wrestle nora into her pyjamas and winnie into the bath— you’d told him at least six times, nerf guns do not belong in the toy box. because then this happens.
full blown war had broken out, the twins firing away at each other like they were caught up in the most important battle of their life, and you were at your wits end when the third one in ten minutes was launched off your head.
“alright, you tiny terrors, that’s enough for today. nope, don’t look at me like that.” you shook your head as you were met with a chorus of tiny “not fairs” and “five more minutes” as you plucked the offending weapons from their hands.
a couple of seconds later, the sound of buckys truck pulling into the drive filtered in from outside and the girls scrambled down the hall, waiting patiently behind the door like perfect little angels.
they got that from him.
bucky knew there was something as he opened the door, eyebrow raised as he closed the door behind him. he’d faced a lot of things in his life— he just never anticipated his wife with a ner gun pointed at him to be one of them.
“your children are menaces, barnes. so—” you grinned “you don’t surrender when you have one bullet left.” you winked as you took aim, terribly, and fired the last bullet in bucky’s direction. his left arm came up and caught it as it flew through the air, holding it between his fingers. “oh, sweetheart. if that was your last bullet, you might wanna try harder.”
it was his turn to grin as he took a step forward, pressing a kiss to your forehead.
“and next time i’ll make sure to put them away properly.”
