Felt very fluffy while writing this. Quick disclaimer, I don’t not know Spanish so please don’t roast me to hard. 😅
Don’t forget to take study breaks and watch some mind numbing shows.
“Cómo va la muñeca que estudia?” You sighed as you stopped flipping through your flashcards.
How is the studying going doll? Your mind supplied you.
You scrunched your nose as you tried to construct a response to his question. “Ok, pero sigo confundiéndose con los cambios gramaticales.”
Ok, but I keep getting confused by the grammar changes.
He chuckled lightly as he wrapped his arms around your waist and nuzzled into the crook of your neck. “You’re getting better though doll.”
“I guess, it’s easier to say it out loud instead of writing it. I’ll get there though.”
You dropped your flashcards onto the counter and leaned into his touch. “How long did it take you to learn Spanish?” You asked thoughtfully.
“Don’t know.” You felt him shrug against you. “I picked up a few different languages over the years.”
You inwardly face palmed as you remembered how the last 70 years had gone for the brunette wrapped around you.
“You’ll get it.” He said mischievously before picking you up and spinning you around.
You laughed as he spun you again and turned you to face him.
“Well I’ve got a great tutor.” You gave him a small smile as you leaned in for a hug. You felt his metal arm cool your back as it wrapped around you.
“I’ve been forgetting to ask,” Bucky said, suddenly serious. “Why Spanish? You wanna be a teacher.”
“I guess I just want to be able to connect with all of my students.” You gave him a shy smile. “Just because I’m teaching history, doesn’t mean that I shouldn’t keep learning new things. Besides, I want my future students to be able to communicate and learn.”
He kissed you softly on your forehead, and hugged you tighter. “You’re going to be the best teacher doll.” He said warmly.
You felt heat rush to your cheeks at the praise. “I just want to make a difference. You know?”
He nodded at you before grabbing a nearby fluffy throw. “You are going to change the world, doll.” He wrapped it around you with a flourish. “So when’s your next exam?”
“Next week, and then I have an American history exam the day after.” You sat down on the couch and patted the spot next to you. “Could you quiz me on my Spanish flashcards?”
“Course!” He reached for the large stack of notecards that had words scribbled all over them and sat next to you. With one smooth movement, he grabbed your legs and rested them on his lap.
You giggled as he kissed your knee and flipped up the first card. “What is: de dónde eres?”
“Where are you from?” You said immediately. “That one’s easy.”
He scoffed at that. “I’m just reading what you have written down.”
You heard him place the card in the back of the stack and pull out another one. “How about: donde puedo conseguir un auto usado?”
You hummed deep in thought. “Where do you-?”
“Where can I.” Bucky corrected.
“Where can I get a used car?” You said finally.
“Good.” You preened at your boyfriend’s praise and stared at the ceiling as he looked at the next card.
“Ok, now this is a tough one.” Bucky said from your side. “Te casarías conmigo?”
You shot up at that and felt tears rise to your eyes. “What?”
“Te casarías conmigo? You need a hint?” He teased as he reached into his jacket pocket.
“I-“ You found yourself speechless as he pulled out a small black velvet box and kneeled on the carpet next to you.
“Y/n. Will you marry me?”
Your heart sped up and you felt butterflies in your stomach as tears ran down your cheeks.
“Yes!” You cried and launched yourself off the couch and back into his arms. “Yes I’ll marry you!”
You noticed that Bucky’s eyes began to water as he pulled you tightly into him. “I told you that you’d change the world doll.” He started. “And I want to be there for every minute of it all.”
