au where everything is the same, except instead of a dojo the mikado family run something else entirely ; ) [timeline is before the first episode of the series more or less?!]
♝
Tasuku always makes one stop before work and school.
The place isn’t exactly a hole in the wall, nor is it an extravagantly famous spot crowded with people. It’s a modest outlet with simple decorations and an atmosphere that makes you feel like you’re at home. Which isn’t too surprising, since it’s entirely run by one family as an extension of their own family home.
Tasuku loves the food and drinks there, but that’s not the only reason he’s a frequent customer.
As Tasuku opens the door and lets the bell ring, his eyes scan the premises for a familiar set of golden eyes. He finds what he’s looking for standing behind the counter, filling the dispenser with new straws.
The sweet smell of breakfast and coffee make him lick his lips without realizing.
Gao looks up when he notices Tasuku close by and grins. “Good morning, Tasuku-senpai!”
Tasuku’s smile comes just as easily. “Good morning, Gao.”
“The usual set, right?”
Tasuku nods in response and Gao sets about to get his order ready. A simple egg sandwich or two to fill his stomach, and a cup of coffee to give him the energy he needs.
But what he likes most in his usual set isn’t the food or the drink.
“Have a good day, Tasuku-senpai!” Gao says as he hands over the paper bag, his smile as bright as ever despite it being early in the morning. Tasuku takes the bag and says, “Thank you. You too, Gao. Stay safe.”
He walks out and meets up with Jack, who had been waiting outside this entire time because he didn’t want to be bothered to change in his mini-form, like always. Tasuku doesn’t complain about it anymore.
What Tasuku likes most about the usual set is Gao wishing him a good day.
People come into his room to greet him. Baku pats him on the back with a whistle at the sight of him in his suit, Kuguru wishes him good luck, Tetsuya (who’s in charge of music) gives him a thumbs-up and a promise of sick beats for the reception, Zanya shakes his hand with a curt nod, Noboru says Gao surely got lucky this time, Kiri congratulates him with a sweet smile, Jin (along with Mamakari) tells him they chose a good day to hold the event, and Ban Enma cries.
His parents, especially his mother, fret over him the entire time they planned this all those months ago and his father wasn’t even trying to be discreet with selling him the idea of being a dad through adoption.
Axia is going to be the flower girl, leading him down the red carpet that’s laid out over the grass and stopping at the altar. Drum is his best man, clad out in a suit in his mini-form (though he wasn’t entirely happy about it) and Hanako’s the ring bearer (a job she took more than happily).
Gao takes a deep breath as he stops himself from pacing too much. He realizes he’s been gripping his flower bouquet too tight too. Soon, they’re gonna call him to start the ceremony. Soon, everyone will watch him as he walks down the aisle.
Soon, he’s going to marry Tasuku.
He can’t help the grin that appears on his face. He remembers that moment, almost two years ago, when Tasuku decided to pull the cliché card on him by taking him out for a picnic dinner, reciting a speech from the heart about the time they’ve spent ever since they met, and then going down on one knee with the stars behind him, a ring in one hand, and a ‘Will you marry me?’ on his lips.
The memory makes his emotions bubble up inside his chest.
Someone raps on the door and Gao jumps in surprise. He clears his throat and opens it to find his mom.
“Are you ready?” she asks. Gao feels he nodded too quickly.
Suzumi chuckles, petting his head even though he’s taller than her now. She leads him outside of the makeshift room and into the garden he and Tasuku chose. Axia is waiting for them impatiently with a basket of flowers in his hands. Gao wants to laugh.
He feels his mom brush her fingers through his hair again and turns to her.
She smiles. “I’m proud of you.” She says, caressing his cheek now, and he leans into her touch, grateful for her presence. Then she heads to the get seated, signalling the DJ to get the Wedding March started on her way, and Axia takes the first steps onto the carpet.
Gao follows the small dragon down the aisle, and although the eyes of many are on him as he walks, it’s the eyes of Tasuku Ryuenji looking at him that makes him feel like he is the sun, the moon, and all the stars at once.
Buddyfight Week Day 7: AU in which Shido Magoroku is acknowledged by the writers as having a valid personality and is given a character arc that acknowledges his flaws as an egotistical jerkwad but doesn’t erase his good traits as a person and is now friends with the main cast because he deserves it after all he’s been through.
Here he is tutoring Kazane in math because he’s the President I’m sure he’s required to have good grades to be President. (Although lbr here he’s probably just as lost as her).
Welp! Here it is!! The Last day!! It was a fun ride, thank you @buddyfight-club for never caring that you had to reblog my pieces literally a day after, every single time. I will remember it.
A/N: This is a short twist on a fic that I plan to do. It won’t be exactly like this because I plan to make it angsty and full of twists so…I hope I get to write that one one day. But for now, have an AU of my AU fic .
Seraphs were divine creatures, pure and elegant, the only creatures ever known to be powerful but filled with compassion and grace. They filled the skies with their beauty; wingspans as long as three feet, the longest ever recorded, could be seen in the golden skies of dawn and the fading scenes of dusk. Their empire has reigned for thousands of years, longer than any human thought possible, but they have lived on since the beginnings of time, only in the forms of humans who were given the gifts of their beautiful wings, and magnificent power.
But a lone seraph, hair as red as fire and eyes like the sun, stood on the balcony outside of his chamber, a frown set on his lips as he stared up at the sky, watching the other Seraphs as they took flight. His hands subconsciously rub at his arms, an empty feeling sits in his chest, and he wonders to himself why he was chosen for this fate.
The prophet to the Seraphs, for years the tale of the Sun Seraph would be born, wingless and strong he would be come into this world to change it, to bring peace and love to this decelent dimension of power hungry tyrants.
‘But why did it have to be me?’ His thoughts constantly lurked back to this. ‘Why did I have to be the prophet? What can I do without wings?’
The world seemed to be coming down around him. He was expected to change this world in his simple lifetime. He was already thirteen years old and has achieved nothing! He’ll never achieve anything! If anyone could change this world, it would be Yota. He has the bright ideas. He has the leadership quality attitude. He actually has wings. Yota should have been the prophet instead of him.
He gripped the railing tightly in his hands, biting his lower lip as he tried to calm himself down. The overwhelming anxiety that he felt, this sensation of hopelessness, he wanted to scream into the heavens and demand an answer to his sorrows. He didn’t understand it at all.
“Lord Mikado.” Gao turned to one of the guards that is here for a routine check in. “Are you feeling well?”
He sighs and nods to him. “Yes. I’m okay, Miserea.”
Miserea frowns but does not speak out against Gao’s response. “I understand. But just to inform you, your brother requests your presence in the dining hall in 20 minutes.”
“Very well.” Gao mutters in reply.
Miserea slowly comes to a stand and leaves the room to guard his lord from potential dangers. But Gao didn’t really care what he did in that moment, and almost hoped that something would happen. Perhaps a masked assailant would come and assassinate him on this very balcony, maybe he’d trip and fall over, landing on the ground below. Anything to end his suffering.
“Look out.” A voice cried in the distance.
Gao looks up and sees a flash of blue in his line of sight, before he’s thrown back onto the floor. His back skid across the cold wooden floor, and a heavy weight crushed him. When he finally stopped moving, he opened his eyes and saw a mop of blue hair in his vision; and quickly after a pair of bright red eyes. Gao could see his wings, beautiful feathery wings that spanned about a foot and a half long. His heart beat frantically, but his cheeks flushed pink in amazement. The door was thrown open and Miserea came rushing in, sword in hand.
“Lord Mikado.” He cried.
But Gao silenced him with a raised hand, his eyes never leaving the one above him. “Who are you?”
He looked at Gao and sat up. “I’m Tasuku, from the third squadron, My Lord. I was taking a flight test and was knocked out of control. I deeply apologize.” Tasuku said, bowing his head to Gao.
For the first time today Gao smiled. “Ah, Tasuku.” He sits up himself, leaning himself back and holding his weight against his hands. “What’s it like, the third Squadron?”
Tasuku blinks in confusion. “The Squadron? Well, we do a lot of physical training to keep prepared for any means of battle. And we also are in charge of looking out for possible infiltration of enemy militia, My Lord.”
“But do you…get to fly…for fun?” Gao asks. He couldn’t help but continue to gaze on at Tasuku’s gorgeous wings.
“For fun?” Tasuku repeats to himself. “I suppose so. After our training we’re allowed a bit of a free period to relax our minds. Most of the other cadets will go back to their quarters and sleep, but a lot of us also like to take a mid afternoon flight around the village and watch the ongoing sunset. It puts our minds at ease, My Lord.”
Gao tried to imagine it in his head, flying the skies at dusk, with wings like Tasuku’s, taking in the evening air and feeling the worries of his life washing away. He longed for that freedom, that content mindset that Tasuku always craves.
Tasuku could see that Gao’s expression has changed and quickly removes himself from Gao’s legs and bows to his lord. “I’m very sorry for prolonging my removal from you, My Lord. I didn’t mean to make you uncomfortable.”
Gao stands up as well and shakes his head. “It’s fine, Tasuku.” But his fingers began to twiddle together and his cheeks were still pink. “But,” Tasuku felt his heart begin to pound as he wondered what his Lord would ask of him. “Perhaps, can you tell me how much longer you can be away from your Squadron? I would like to ask a favor from you.”
Tasuku looked out towards the sun to check how high in the sky it was before he replied. “The sun will be down soon. I say I would have to be back soon, perhaps ten minutes at the most.”
Gao stood silent for a moment before turning to Miserea. “Please tell Yota that I will be a bit late for dinner. I hope you understand.”
Miserea was going to question him further but Gao had already grabbed Tasuku’s hand and rushed him off to the balcony. “Quickly, answer me this. Can you hold another person while you fly?”
Tasuku’s mind began to spin. “I-I don’t know. I believe so.”
Gao smiles at Tasuku’s response and asks him, “Could you perhaps take me for a quick flight around the village?”
Tasuku felt immense amounts of honor and pride rush through him. To have the honor of flying with a royal Lord and the Sun Prophet no less. He didn’t know what to say that sounded willing enough. “I would love to, My Lord.”
“Wait, Lord Mikado.” Miserea cries in urgency.
Tasuku’s wings flutter and they begin to descend. Gao looks back at Miserea who is standing on the floor of the balcony. “Please don’t worry, Miserea. I’ll be back before long.”
Miserea continues to call for Gao, despite his orders. Tasuku keeps a form hold on Gao’s waist, holding him against his body as they flew away from the castle and towards the village. As they flew, Gao had his eyes closed. He took in the way the breeze hit his skin and blew through his hair. He took in the sound that Tasuku’s wings made when they fluttered through the sky. He took in the heat of Tasuku’s body. He held out his arms and pretended that he was flying on his own. He has longed for something like this, but never believed it would happen until now.
When Gao opened his eyes., he couldn’t believe the sight before him was real. He could see the entire village from where he was. He could see his people closing up their stalls. He could see the children, some that were his age, playing while the last few bits of sunlight were left. He could see Lake Drum, named after the fallen knight who died protecting the village thousands of years ago. There were so many sights that Gao had never seen before, that he wanted to take it in all at once.
“Thank you, Tasuku.” Gao says breathlessly. He takes Tasuku’s hand and squeezes it before releasing it. “This means a lot to me.”
Gao could not see the smile that was embedded on Tasuku’s lips, but he heard his response perfectly clear. “The pleasure is all mine, My Lord.”
Gao looked to the sunset, the reds and yellows and oranges that merged together. He watched as the sun set over the horizon, leaving the village with a pink and purple sky. He knew that Tasuku had to head back to his Squadron, but this sensation, this warmth. He didn’t want to lose it.
“You can bring me back now, Tasuku.” Gao said with sadness in his tone.
Tasuku could feel the negative vibes in his lord and wanted to right them. “What’s wrong, My Lord?” He asks as he turns around to head back to the castle.
Gao shook his head. “It’s nothing, Tasuku. It’s just,” He crossed his arms over his chest. “I really wanted to spend more time out here.”
Tasuku smiles. “If you really love the outside so much, why not join the Squadron?”
Gao loved the idea of joining the military, but he knew Yota would never allow it. The prophet had to be protected, so that when the time came he would be ready to change the world, however that may be.
“I can’t do that. I have too many obligations to take care of.” Gao replied.
Tasuku came to a stop over Gao’s balcony where Miserea waited for him. He slowly made his way down far enough where Gao could place his feet onto the floor. Tasuku flew a few feet away, a smile on his face. “Well, if you ever change your mind, the Squadron would love to have you.”
Gao nods, “I’ll see what happens, Tasuku.” He begins to turn away, but Tasuku grabs his attention once more when he quietly calls him over. Gao sneaks away from Miserea and goes over to the railing. Tasuku leans in close so that he could whisper in Gao’s ear.
“I know you can’t see them now, but you have beautiful wings as well, My Lord.” Tasuku says.
Gao’s eyes widen. “I do?” He replies in awe.
“Yes. Beautiful wings, with legendary length, beautiful fiery wings of gold and flames as red as your hair, my lord. I know you can’t see them but you will get them one day. No matter what the prophecy speaks of, I believe you will one day get the chance to fly on your own.”
Tasuku pulls away and smiles before taking off towards his base. Gao watches him go until he is out of sight. “Miserea,” He says with a smile. “Take me to my brother. I have something urgent to discuss with him.”
Miserea knew what Gao was speaking of. He was able to hear their conversation, but was unsure of how to feel about it himself. But he listened to his Lord’s orders and bowed. “Understood, My Lord.”
Gao followed Miserea out of his chamber’s and down to the dining hall where dinner has already been served. He simply could not wait to speak with Yota about this, about joining the military. He had to experience it, his own sense of flight, even if it meant never attaining the wings that Tasuku sees him having one day. He needed his own sense of change and freedom. This was his only chance.
I went with the Harry Potter universe since it’s fun! :D
Housing placement ideas and descriptions go to @rirururu who helped me with that and for keeping me sane while I was doing this picture. (Really, I thank you TDT)
Tasuku is in Gryffindor. Students in Gryffindor emphasis traits of chivalry to the point of recklessness. They are often seen as heroic, as shown by Tasuku's promise to save everyone. Although we considered Gao to be in this house as well, he outright stated in one episode: "I'm no hero, I'm the Mighty Sun Fighter" and told Genma that anyone who wanted to help others can be the Sun Fighter.
Gao and Zanya are in Ravenclaw. Members of Ravenclaw tend to act upon wisdom over their own emotions. They also pride themselves in being original in their ideas, often using unpopular and even unusual methods to gain the upper hand similar to Zanya's use of scrolls. Gao's open-mindedness to using new decks/worlds is reminiscent to how students in Ravenclaw may possess quirky talents and value genuine learning.
Noboru is Slytherin because we can see him as a pureblood who initially doesn't trust mudbloods and judges them for it (similar to how he judges dragons vs dragonknights). But as he hangs out with the others more, warms up to them. Slytherins tend to be shrewd and achievement-oriented, worrying more about results rather than how they get there. They also value their sense of self-preservation, meaning they tend to weight out all possible outcomes before acting. This parallels how Noboru tended to brood alone at the start of season one.
Tetsuya is Hufflepuff since they value hard work, dedication, patience, loyalty, and fair play rather than a particular aptitude in its members. Due to Helga Hufflepuff's policy of accepting any student, it is often thought to be the weakest house of the least talented wizards. However, this is merely a misunderstanding, just as how in canon Tetsuya was initially the worst fighter in the grade but quickly climbed to being one of the best.
Hope it makes up for not doing something most of Buddyfight Week 2016
Please give it a watch, its a speed draw of the TasuGao Fusion I did.
Cuz’ TasuGao is Life
For the last day of Buddyfight Week, we created a game! It’s really short, but hopefully it’s fun! :) You can find it here: http://springrollgames.weebly.com/kitten-shirt.html
