what really grinds my gears about hylics ocs is that 90% of the time i can't tell if its just an unusual interpretation of a character or a genuine "original" character someone came up with
like some bitch would go "this is my original character... johnson boy.... " and its just wayne in a croptop and like a phat fucking scar across his face or like "dis is ivy :3" and its straight up just somsnosa in a different outfit
i mean with splitheads people are only somewhat more creative... like they at least change some colors and some shapes but like even still whats the point its just a really funny looking dedusmuln
and i saw like a self prolclaimed OC animatic and it was just pongorma and wayne with a possible interaction that they would have

and when people actually try to make an actual original character half the time its decent at replicating the design philosophy and such and the other half is just "hmmm make it weird and wacky that'll work" and they don't follow or keep in mind the formula for making a hylic-y character design
honestly i shouldnt be talking about this as someone who self inserted their fursona for crying out loud but c'mon!!!!!!!!
and you know what, the fandom isn't really to blame for this
mason just decided "hmmmm wut if wayne hylic... was mootipool pepel" and around the time he was working on the 3rd game he went "hmmm somsnosa.... but she's a people.... " and honestly i feel like that was kind of a lazy move from him to be honest
in hylics 1 we didnt have any of these problems, shit was individual (for the most part)... shit was clean
honestly i could suck mason's cock about the first hylics all day but really i don't have to do that
