Just a silly question but,, is it normal my centipede just sleeps all day and all night?

I'll check on them periodically throughout the night and they'll just be asleep next to the heat mat, maybe have moved an inch at very most.

I know they probably do move around a bit, but it seems whenever I do check on them they're just... Asleep. Doing nothing.

I'm not expecting to see them having a party, but I'm just not sure if it's normal💔

tumblr help I need to re-home a spider and the internet is just telling me how to make it leave

It was in a chest of drawers and for various reasons it can't stay there. There is also an egg sac that came loose. Where do I make it a home? Any tips?

(EU, Germany. Medium sized spider with brown colour and maybe grey patterns? I can look again. It seems to like dark corners and be sensitive to movement. Maybe that's all spiders I don't know. )

I accidentally killed our last spider so the stakes are high for me rehoming this one and its potential offspring. Its a proper killer too it had a whole earwig wrapped up for later which I accidentally threw away before I realised the spider was in there. Seems like a good house spider candidate.

Scientists of tumblr, help me out?

I found this Luna Moth on the ground in my yard today, she is unable to fly due to damage to her wings. I know the adult lifecycle of Luna’s is very short, so I’ve taken her in. While in my possession, I believe she’s laid some eggs. I’m trying to care for them until they reach adulthood. Does anyone have any advice? They are currently in a clean plastic water jug that’s been gently misted for humidity. Also, does anyone know what that squiggly movement inside her abdomen is?

Give them their space.  Try again another time, or wait for them to contact you.

Then... don’t talk to them?  It’s not a difficult concept; if someone doesn’t want to talk to you, you shouldn’t try to make them, because making a fuss or harassing them won’t make things better.  (Also: “no” means “no”.)

Same anon: How do you talk to someone who's ignoring you?

First of all: how do you know that they are ignoring you?  The person in question could have anxiety issues, be a procrastinator, be busy with work or other responsibilities, or any other number of reasons not to answer right away.

Case in point: I have asks and submissions in my inbox that date to last year; some that were put in Drafts are even older!  And I haven’t answered or posted them, not because I don’t want to, or don’t appreciate them (I do, very much), but most often because I am unsure what to say.  (Especially on things like the “reply with 5 things that make you happy” sort of asks.  I have a lot of trouble with those.)  That nervousness leads to procrastination (”I’ll just think it over for a bit and answer when I have free time”), and, regrettably, sometimes they are forgotten for a while.

Bottom line is, unless the person has given a obvious indication that they don’t want to talk to you, you should just be patient and wait for an answer.  I can’t speak for everyone, but everyone has their own comfort zone.

What's the best way to earn someone's trust online?

Well, I would start by being polite and respectful of other people’s opinions, beliefs, conditions, orientations, etc.  If you’re in a fandom, try starting a polite discussion (e.g., “who’s your favorite character?”).  If you can, above all, you should come off of anon.  I know that there are those who are too shy or nervous to come off of anon, and I completely understand that feeling.  Just know that trust here is much harder to earn if you remain anonymous.
