THE MOST LEGS FOUND ON A LIVING CREATURE IS EUMILLIPEDE PERSEPHONE! FOUND 60+FT UNDERGROUND IN AUSTRALIA! WHICH ONLY HAS 1000! MORE WAS EXPECTED FROM YOU, MR. SYDNEY!

Oh I have SO many!
Brown Marmorated Stink Bug stink smells like cilantro
Honey bees have hairs in between their many eyes to help sense the wind
Dragonflies havent changed much since before the dinosaurs
Pond striders use their leg hair to trap air bubbles to skate across water
Grasshoppers hear from their knees

Specific bugs! I super love cicadas. I love collecting their “shells” as I call them. Did you know that some cicadas spent up to 17 years hibernating underground! THATS SOMEONE’S WHOLE CHILDHOOD! I just find that very cool!
I also love moths, of course, and spiders. The venomous ones are very cool (talking about spiders). Did you know that male black widows don’t live very long? Hardly even half a year, compared to the female who usually lives three years I think (don’t count me on that). It’s because of the sexual cannibalism!
Not very much a fun fact, but I once found a red and black fuzzy caterpillar while I was living in Virginia. I looked it up, and it’s actually a moth larvae to a moth commonly known as Isabella tiger moth I believe. I took photos!
Isn’t it such a cute little guy?! I didn’t want to get too close and disturb it, so I made sure to walk around it and let it be.
Fun fact about this one: people think this larvae can predict the weather for the winter (not this particular kind, but the type)

this is a subadult Arilus cristatus, aka wheel bug! they're a hemipteran (a "true bug"), and so they don't go through complete metamorphosis. instead, they go through several stages of being a wingless nymph like this one before shedding their skin one last time and becoming Huge and Powerful.
hemipterans also all have this straw-like, sucking mouthpart, which you can see here! this lil dude caught one of my garden spiders and has slurped out all the good stuff, leaving it with a sad sack of spider skin :')

bug fact of the day!! Have you ever wondered how centipedes control all those legs? Humans only have four limbs and we struggle to coordinate them. But centipedes have so many, all of them perfectly coordinated. It’s because they actually have multiple brains. They have one intelligent brain in their head, then smaller, less intelligent brains in each segment. They’re just smart enough to control two legs and send a signal down to the next brain. It’s a call and response reaction that happens every time they need to move. :D
WOAH!!! that’s some absolutely wild neural connections. those must be very, very tiny brains to fit within their legs, or just a lot of nerves!!!
Did you know if you touch an insect’s wings you could rub off some of the chemical that holds it together, causing their wings to fall apart? Did you know moths can still fly with pretty damaged wings? Did you know the longest a bug has lived was a queen ant that lived for 28¾ years in captivity?
