Covid-19 - time to bug yer reps!
Thing I did today, in light of 45's administration being criminally negligent on managing the spread of Covid-19: contacted my state representatives (assembly and senate) and governor's office by email about supporting some kind of action to support the most vulnerable workers among us. Here's where I went for California (https://www.ca.gov/government/), and you can look up the reps for your district and also contact the governor. I encourage y'all to do the same wherever you are.

I'm writing because I want to know what if anything is being done to support mandatory sick leave or other measure so that the most vulnerable folks (working hourly, working agriculture, etc.) can safely take time off from work if they're ill, rather than being made to take the choice of going into work sick, and risk infecting others and worsening their own condition, or taking time off and risking being fired or otherwise retaliated against by companies and corporations. Whether that's some kind of temporary universal basic income, or other measures to protect workers from their companies, I feel like lack of action will contribute to the spread of illness like covid-19 in the state. for the email to governor Gavin Newsom, I also added a line of appreciation since he declared a state of emergency for California to get things going, and I added a line about being concerned that folks who are imprisoned get adequate and timely medical care because that is a population that seems like they're in a horrible situation for transmitting illnesses in a confined space, and prisons may not get tests for a while. Obviously change things as you think appropriate depending on how much you need to yell at your reps to care about vulnerable populations in their constituencies, or what asks you think are appropriate for where you are.
