Incredible
“I don’t want to be without you, Juggie”
“It is for the best… when you have reached all the things you want, and I get to be free from all the tours and I get my contract done with the publishing, we’ll be together”
“How do you know that?”
“Because we, Betty Copper, are soul mates”
Nerves…
That’s all Betty was able to feel.
It had been some years since she had set a foot in her hometown; the place where she had grew up, where she had met the most important people in her life. In those year she had been away, she had dedicated to create a name in her career, to the point that in her short age she was well known between the people in the field, unfortunately this took a lot of her time, so she was only able to see her family and friends when they visited her in New York, where she moved to when she graduated from high school.
While she was looking outside the taxi’s window, because Riverdale still didn’t have Uber, Lyft or anything like it, she started to think about the people she was going to see after such a long time: Veronica, Archie, Cheryl, Fangs, Toni, and Sweet Pea… Sighing, she took the small portable mirror that was in her bag, to check her makeup, after all she wanted to look perfect… perfect for him.
Jughead…
With only thinking his name she felt like a 17 year-old all over again, even thought it had been 10 years since she was that age, the feelings remained the same. She took a deep breath, trying to make her heart back to normal, the organ starting to run like crazy when she remembered him.
Her eyes threatened to get filled with tears, putting the little mirror and her lipstick back in her bag. She put her hands on her knees, which were covered with the dress she had picked up for the occasion.

The One Where They Both Say Yes
~A Bughead Fanfic~
Description: A sweet, fluffy Bughead fic inspired by the double Malec proposal! It’s always great when two things that I love can come together :)! Contains fluff, hijinks, general cuteness, and the only warning is that your mouth might hurt from smiling (I know mine did while I wrote this)! I hope everyone enjoys! (Oh, and of course the title was inspired by the most amazing show, Friends.)

Betty Cooper and Jughead Jones were the perfect couple. It seemed that no matter who broke up, hooked up, or got knocked up in their crazy town, they remained steady. They had been through so much together in the 5 years that they had been dating, so it only seemed natural that it was time for them to take the next step in their relationship.
At least, Jughead hoped that was how they both felt. The dark-haired boy was currently pacing the floor in the dorm room that he shared with Archie, nervous beyond belief. He was planning on proposing to Betty tonight, and his normally collected composure was cracking rapidly. What if she thought it was too soon? What if she didn't want to get married right after they graduated from college? Maybe she would want to explore more, even see other guys? At that thought, Jughead knew he had to stop overanalyzing what her response might be, otherwise he was going to lose his damn mind.
Luckily for Jughead’s nerves, Archie opened the door just then, back from his exams.
“Man, have you got perfect timing. I need to ask you something.”
“Go ahead, bro, shoot.” Archie responded, sitting on Jug’s twin bed.
“Okay, so I’m going to propose to Betty tonight,” Archie looked shocked, but he quickly regained his composure, “and I wanted to know what you think she’s going to say.” Jughead asked, wiping a bead of sweat from his forehead.
“Jug, that’s great! I always knew you guys were going to get married someday, I just didn’t know it was going to be so soon! However, I think she’s going to be over the moon. You shouldn’t doubt her, buddy. I think everything is going to perfect.” Archie said, patting his friend on the shoulder.
“Really? That makes me feel so much better, thanks man. She’s been dropping hints left and right, so I think she’s gonna say yes. Hey, do you want to see the ring?” Archie grinned and nodded, so Jughead took it out of his pocket.
While the two boys were admiring the ring, they had no idea that a similar conversation was taking place in the girls’ dorm room.

102: ‘Oh honey. I would but… I don’t want to.’ and 144: ‘You’re cute when you’re sleepy.’
———
Bed and Breakfast
“Hmmm,” she mumbled in response.
“Come on, Betts, let’s eat.”
“Hmmm, okay,” she mumbled again, not making any signs of effort to get up.
“Will I have to drag you?”
“Hmmm, yeah.”
She felt a sudden whip of cold air as he pulled the warm, thick duvet off of her. Squealing, she reached for it but he had tossed it to the other side of the room.
“That’s for your own good, no come on.”
“I think we should break up, Jug,” she joked, curling up into a ball, and inhaling the sheets.
“Alright, but after breakfast.”
His cold hands reached under the shirt she was wearing, gripping her sides. Squealing again, she resisted his tickles, but only ended up pulling him on top of her.
When he finally stopped and she had calmed down, they just looked at each other, small smiles on their faces.
“What is it?” She asked.
“You’re just…you’re cute when you’re sleepy.”
She giggled, “Flattery isn’t going to work. Doesn’t hurt, but it isn’t going to work.”
He sighed, “Come on, Betts, please? It’s getting cold. I just really want to eat with you.”
She tilted her head up, pressing her lips to his, before parting, “Oh honey. You know I would, but I don’t want to. I’d much rather stay here, with your warmth and sleep for a few more hours.”
He pouted his bottom lip, “Pleaseeee?”
“My God, you’re annoying.”
In response, he pulled himself off of her, leaving her cold again. She called him back but he was out the room.
Sighing, happy that she had won, she pulled the duvet back over her, and wrapped herself in it like a burrito.
Just as she had closed her eyes again, she felt his arms come around her burrito-rolled body, and pluck her up, off the bed, and over his shoulder.
Laughing as he walked out into the kitchen, she couldn’t help but think: If this is what Sunday mornings would be like with him, then she would want it to be Sunday everyday.
He placed her down on the stool, pushing her coffee mug towards her. Biting his bottom lip from smiling, he admired the sight before him. Little head popping out of a duvet-rolled-up Betty Cooper, with her defeated expression, sitting on a stool, feet hanging above the ground.
“Betty…”
“Mhm,” she mumbled, sipping her coffee, closing her eyes at the warm, soothing liquid going down her throat.
He placed he plate with the pancake in front of her, and as she read the honey-written message, her eyes welled up with tears.
Kneeling beside the stool, he pulled out a ring. “Betty Cooper, I love you so damn much. And it would mean the world to me if you would fight over bed or coffee with me every single Sunday morning, for the rest of our lives. Will you-“
“Yes! Yes! YES!” She squealed, before losing her balance and falling off the stool. He adjusted himself so he was sitting with his legs out, pulling her on top of him, just in time. As she pressed her lips to his, arms coming around his neck, he held her like she was the most precious thing on Earth.
“Really?” He looked at her with a sparkle in his eye.
“Really,” She mirrored his look. “Oh my God, we’re getting married!”
He laughed as she kissed him all over on the kitchen floor.
As simple as it was, there was nowhere else he’d rather be and there was no other way she’d rather be proposed to.
It was perfect.
Bittersweet Goodbyes and New Beginnings -- Bughead

Summary: The day has finally come for them to say goodbye to Riverdale High and hello to the real world that awaits them. Betty and Jughead have big plans in New York City, but are Jughead's plans just a little bit bigger than expected?
A/N: The Core Four Graduation dream sequence got me in the mood for a graduation fic, so enjoy this little ditty following Betty on her graduation day. (Read on AO3)
"C'mon, V. The boys are here to pick us up." Betty sat on her windowsill, where she could see FP Jones' old truck in her driveway. Archie and Jughead were sitting on the hood, waiting for the girls to come down.
Veronica was sitting at Betty's vanity, where she'd been for the past two hours, applying makeup and doing her hair. Betty had brought an extra chair in from the kitchen so they could both share the mirror. However, Betty's makeup routine was much less elaborate than Veronica's. A simple line of eyeliner ended in an almost unnoticeable cat eye, a few swipes of mascara, and her favorite Pretty in Pink lipstick, the one she saved for special occasions.
Veronica, on the other hand, wore a full face of makeup. Foundation, contour, highlights… all the things that Betty never did unless Veronica did it for her, like she had for her first anniversary with Jughead. Betty had hated it, and Jughead complained about the makeup that she left on his pillowcase when they were…messing around that night.
"You can't rush perfection, B." Veronica responded as she finally pulled her Midnight Berry lipstick across her lips. The two girls were like Ying and Yang, black and white, fire and water… complete opposites. Betty in a baby blue dress with a lace overlay and bubblegum pink pumps and Veronica in a tight black, high-necked dress with a stiff peplum circling her center and nondescript black heeled booties.
Veronica glided over to the window and pulled up on the frame. She knelt over Betty as she stuck her head out the window and shouted to the two handsome boys waiting for them. "We'll be right down! Archie Andrews, if you get your pants dirty so help me God!" She pointed a stiff finger at her boyfriend… one that he'd gotten used to seeing over the years. It was a warning.
Betty laughed as Archie jumped of the hood of the truck, which she could tell Jughead had washed for the occasion. Veronica was already halfway out the door when Betty stood to follow her. Betty stumbled down the carpeted hallway in her heels, praying to God she wouldn't trip and fall as they walked down the center aisle of their high school gym that afternoon.
For The Ages
Jughead is crazy nervous about the thing currently weighing down his pocket.
A/N: okay so I’ve been on a chick-flick spree which resulted in this cheese-filled one shot. Fair warning: this has copious amounts of fluff and zero smut. Thanks for reading!
“You okay, Jug?” Betty asked, eyeing her apparently too-nervous-for-words boyfriend as he shuffled on his feet, unable to stay still.
“Yeah, no, I'm fine. It's just a bit chilly, wouldn't you agree?” He asked and she shrugged, thankfully not asking for his jacket as they walked down the empty streets of Riverdale. It had been a while since they had come back here. After everything that had happened with Jason and Fred and Cheryl, Jughead and Betty couldn't wait to get out of this small, once-perfect town. The only people they missed were their families – but Riverdale itself they were all too ready to bid goodbye to (well maybe except to Pop Tate).
“It's weird being back here, isn't it? Being alumni in Riverdale High and everything,” Jughead said, as they turned a corner. Betty's smile was laced with nostalgia as she smiled at the empty streets. Riverdale had become even smaller since their leaving. It seemed most of the town had a similar idea about the safety of Riverdale following all the chaos that had happened.
“Yeah. I mean, I know this town wasn't ever really safe but it still makes me feel... safe – is that weird?”
“It's understandable,” Jughead said, slipping his hand into hers and intertwining their fingers. She smiled up at him.
“So, remind me why you wanted to come to Riverdale, again?”
“I told you! My dad wanted to see us.”
“Your dad wanted to see you.”
“Betty, by this point, I'm pretty sure he loves you more than he loves me. When you went to get the pie, he wouldn't stop talking about you. It was actually borderline creepy,” Jughead said, rolling his eyes. Betty chuckled as they walked past the newly constructed mall, where the drive-in had once stood. They looked at it and sighed. It was so out of place in Riverdale. The fanciness of a mall was unnecessary and stood out as too glamorous in the quiet neighbourhood. The couple eyed it distastefully.
“I mean, I guess it adds a new layer...?”
“It's hideous, Betty,” he replied matter-of-factly and Betty had to agree.
“It really is the nail in the coffin that is Riverdale, isn't it?” She echoed his words back at him and he grinned at her.
“Don't remind me, Cooper. It was a dark time for me,” Jughead said, although they both knew he had written almost too many articles about his beloved drive-in since. Of course, they had all remained on his laptop – god knows people in New York couldn't give less of a shit about a tiny drive-in closing in Riverdale and the sentiments it awakened in one of the best investigative journalists in the city. Besides, publishing articles about the drive-in sort of went against the whole good riddance feeling.
Betty glanced at her watch:
10:00 p.m. it read and she frowned. Jughead wanted to go to see Pop Tate (apparently the drive-in wasn't where the sentimentality ended) but surely he would know that the diner would be closed right now. After all, he had basically lived there for a major part of his life.
“Jug, are you sure Pop Tate's going to be up this late?” She asked as they managed to tear their eyes away from the anomaly that was the mall and continue their stroll.
“I told him I was coming so yes, I think he'll stay open. Especially since I gave him the most business he's ever had,” he said, wearing this accomplishment like a badge of honour. Betty raised an eyebrow at this in amusement, flustering him.
“What? He told me. He even had my picture put up in the diner when we left,” he said, although his ears were turning a little red. His mentioning the day they left brought back a flood of memories to Betty. Jughead and her had managed to get into universities in New York while Veronica and Archie were separated by an ocean – Archie was going abroad to study music. But, in their case, distance did make the heart grow fonder, it seemed. Betty and Jughead soon found themselves to be academic rivals which somehow only seemed to make their relationship stronger.
They were the couple that wasn't meant to last. The couple that was running on “borrowed time” (as Jughead so eloquently put it in a fit of anger). And yet, here they were, seven years later – walking hand-in-hand as if they'd just gotten together last week.
“Isn't this what people like us – who have gone through what we've gone through – do?”
For the second time Jughead's words echoed in Betty's head. It made her smile to see where they were. Walking in the same place where they had started. It brought a smile to her face which Jughead noticed.
“What is it?”
“The last time we did this, there was a killer on the loose,” she replied and he laughed.
“I mean, statistically speaking, there is probably at least one right now, too.”
“Shut up. You know what I mean.”
“It's nice,” he agreed and she smiled, adjusting her hand in his.
They approached the diner. It had somehow remained the only constant in Riverdale. The sign was still lit up and the warmth from within welcoming as they entered. The jukebox was already playing softly when they walked in and Betty sighed, allowing nostalgia and a real feeling of home wash over her as she inhaled the familiar scent of burgers and coffee. You had to look closely to see any changes – the booths were slightly more worn, the jukebox dustier, the floor holding a few more stains – but it remained more or less the same. Jughead hung back to shut the door behind them as Betty walked forward towards their regular booth.
“Where's Pop Tate? In the--” she stopped short when she turned around to face Jughead. With both hands, he was holding a small black box. It was unassuming but Betty stood with bated breath.
Somehow she hadn't seen this coming.
But now that she thought about it, it all made sense: the nervousness, the insistence on going to the diner, Jughead constantly feeling his pocket throughout the evening.
“Betty Cooper,” he began and then paused and Betty saw tears form in his eyes. She stood there frozen, waiting.
“Betty Cooper,” he began again after swallowing a few times, “you have been everything to me. For seven years, you have been my rock, my support system, and the only person who has believed in and stood by me through thick and thin. When I told you my dad wanted us to come to Riverdale that wasn't strictly true. Well, actually it was true – he did badger me to come,” Betty let out a laugh at this and only then was aware of tears in her own eyes, “but I more wanted to meet your family. Not your dad – couldn't care less about him – but I wanted to meet Polly. I wanted to meet Polly so I could ask her if I could--” he paused again, words apparently failing him. Betty took a step towards him, raising her eyebrows, asking him to continue.
He swallowed again.
“Not that I need anyone's permission or that you're anyone's to give away. But I spoke to Archie who spoke to Veronica, who spoke to Kevin and they told me that I should talk to Polly. I know it's old-fashioned but you know, it's me – I'm an old soul. Sorry, I'm rambling,” he said, looking away and hastily wiping his eyes with the back of his hand. Betty gave another laugh at this.
“It's just... I never thought I would ever get... well, this. I never thought I could ever be so lucky. I never thought I would be lucky enough to meet my soulmate. Good god, this sounds cheesy as hell, doesn't it? Sorry. I guess what I'm saying is: Betty Cooper, I had been irrevocably in love with you for the last seven years of my life and they have, without doubt been the best seven years a man could possibly hope for. With that said, would you do me the absolute honour and privilege of being my wife?”
She slowly came closer and, placing her hands on his cheeks –
“Yes.”
And she kissed him.
No matter how unexpected this had been, she realised, in that moment, that she didn't even have to think about what her response was going to be. It had always been there – at the tip of her tongue just waiting to be said.
After all, their love was one for the ages.
can you write a fic where bughead promises to marry each other when their young. so when jughead & betty are celebrating their anniversary, jughead proposes. ( betty remembers later on that night about the promise they made)..
of course love!
Betty was nervous and she didn’t know why. She just had this gut feeling that something bad was going to happen tonight and she just couldn’t shake it. It was her and Jughead’s ten year anniversary. They had been through so much together. The murder of Jason Blossom, the rest of their high school years, their college years, and their move back to Riverdale.
Betty stood in the small bathroom of their quaint little apartment and stared at herself in the mirror. She had certainly matured. Her blonde hair was nearly down to her waist now and she had curled and pinned it nicely on the top of her head. Her face was clear of makeup except for a little bit of mascara, blush, and some lipstick. She wore a skin tight baby pink dress that reached just to the top of her knees, leaving her long legs bare. Her black scrappy heels were tied up around her ankles and she had accessorized with small diamond earrings, her key necklace, and a diamond bracelet Jughead had bought her on their fifth anniversary.
Betty bit her lip and continued to stare at her reflection in the mirror. She could swear she was forgetting something. Pushing it to the back of her mind, Betty stepped out of the bathroom to meet Jughead in the living room. Jughead was gathering his keys and his wallet when Betty stepped into the room and when jughead looked up he did a double take.
“My my my,” Jughead grinned, looking her up and down. “You look beautiful Betty.” He said walking over to her and kissing her on the cheek. “You ready to go? I made the reservation for eight.” Betty took a look at the clock on the wall and saw that it was almost eight and she nodded her head. They made their way outside, Jughead holding the door for her as she went. The restaurant was just down the street so they walked instead of wasting the gas.
“Hello!” The hostess greeted them. Betty smiled at her and so did Jughead.
“We have a reservation under Jones.” He told her and she glanced down at her book before nodding and waving us after her.
“Of course, right this way.” The restaurant was busy tonight. The hostess stopped at a table for two situated more towards the back and waved her hands at it. “Here you are. You’re waitress will be right with you. Enjoy!”
Jughead and Betty both thanked the girl before she left and took their seats. Not long after a waitress by the name of Hannah came by and took their drink orders. Betty ordered a glass of wine and Jughead settled for water. When she came back, Betty and Jughead were ready to order, Betty ordered chicken fettuccini while Jughead got the steak meal.
“How was your day?” Jughead asked Betty when the waitress had left them to put their order in.
Betty sighed. “It was long. All day I have had this overwhelming feeling like I’ve missed something. I just can’t shake it.” She tells him and Jughead frowns, taking her hand in his.
“I’m sorry love, but other than that, all good?” He asked raising an eyebrow and Betty smiled.
“Yeah, all good! Work was a breeze, how about you?” Jughead smiled and shrugged his shoulders.
“Perfect.” He smiled again, staring into her eyes and Betty smiled back. She really wanted to kiss him right then, but their waitress was back with their food.
“Enjoy you guys!” She said before she left again, leaving them to their meals.
When they were finished with their food and the waitress had returned to take away their empty dishes, Jughead took Betty’s hands in his and took a deep breath. “I love you, so much Elizabeth Cooper.” Betty smiled sweetly and squeezed Jughead’s hands.
“I love you too.” She told him. Jughead pulled his hands out of hers and leaned back in his chair for a moment before returning to his normal position.
“Can you believe it? Ten years already.” Jughead exclaimed and Betty giggled. “I can still remember the first day I kissed you. It was in your room, we were in the middle of an investigation and you were getting worked up and I just kissed you.” Betty smiled at the memory and she felt her heart warm. “I wasn’t sure how you were going to react but that day I can remember thinking to myself ‘just do it Jug, if you don’t you’re going to regret it forever’ and I am so glad I did it.”
“I’m glad you did too.” Betty smiled at him, folding their hands together once again. Jughead pulled out of Betty’s grasp and Betty furrowed her eyebrows together in confusion. Jughead stood from his seat and moved to her side as Betty looked up at him with confuse wide eyes.
“Ever since that day we have been inseparable. We’ve done literally everything together and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Solving the murder, graduating High School, moving to New York, NYU, and finally moving back here. I love you so much Elizabeth Cooper.” He told her as he moved onto one knee producing a small jewelry box from his jacket pocket.
Betty’s eyes instantly began to fill with tears and she brought her hands to her mouth, covering it as Jughead opened the box revealing the most perfect engagement ring Betty had ever seen. “Elizabeth, Betty Cooper. Will you do me the great honour in becoming my wife?” He asked her, his mouth twitching up in a nervous smile.
Betty couldn’t speak so instead she nodded her head vigorously, giving him her left hand so that he could slide the ring on. She hadn’t realized the entire restaurant had gone quiet and was looking at them until a huge round of applause bursted out when they stood to kiss and hug.
Betty was glowing. Her smile was the widest it had ever been and Jughead’s was the same, his eyes were even a little damp from a few tears that had escaped as he popped the question. The waitress that had been serving them before came back to their table with a receipt for them and handed it to Jughead. “Tonight is on us. Congratulations you two!” She beamed at them before leaving them yet again.
Jughead folded the receipt and placed it in his wallet, pulling out a couple bills and placing them on the table for the tip before extending his hand to Betty. “Shall we?” He asked her and Betty took his hand following him out of the restaurant.
“We shall.” She beamed, wiping away the rest of her tears as she went. Once they were outside and on the empty sidewalk, Jughead spun Betty around before taking her in his arms and kissing her.
“So,” Jughead said once they had both pulled out of the kiss. “Is your feeling of dread finally gone?” Betty stopped for a moment and her eyes widened.
“Yeah actually,” her eyebrows furrowed in confusion until she finally understood. “Oh my god! I remember now! On our fifth anniversary you told me you wanted to marry me and I said to ask me on out tenth anniversary. How could I forget that!”
Jughead chuckled. “To be fair, we were in the middle of a hectic year at NYU so I understand.” Betty shoved his shoulder with her own and laced her hand back with his. “I’m only teasing you. Now,” he grinned, “how about a milkshake at Pop’s, future Mrs. Jones?”
Betty blushed and planted a kiss on his cheek. “I could get used to that, and yes of course.” Jughead smiled and they both made their way to the old diner together, hand in hand while Jughead’s finger stroked the band of Betty’s engagement ring. They both could not be any happier.
