Superman Caregiver Headcanons for @harvey--dent
• Ma and Pa raised this boy right and he wants to do the same for you.
• You’re helping him in the kitchen, or more accurately he’s helping you. Even if you’re small he’s guiding you in what to do, believing it’s good to let you feel like you’re the one leading it.
• Picnics? Picnics. And those picnics will be anywhere in the world you want them to be, simply because he can.
• Yet his favorite spot is still a hill that overlooks the majority of the family farm, especially close to sunset.
• There’s a tire swing there that’s been around since his own childhood. He happily pushes you if you want to use it.
• Another thing he loves to do with you is the chores. It sounds silly but he genuinely adores the simplicity of the farm work with you helping him. He likes to watch your face as you toss feed to the chickens, your face lighting up with giggles as you watch them peck at the ground around your feet.
• Not only did he teach you how to crotchet but he made the picnic blanket you two regularly use with you while he did. It’s classic red and white, but he stitched your names into the corner with a finer blue thread.
• He’s taught you a lot of hand crafts actually, all things he learned growing up. Sometimes as he watches you awkwardly stitch together some fabrics or help sand down some wood he sees himself, struggling to contain his strength or even just to learn the craft and he tears up a little.
• He made you a plush bear that has a mini Superman cape and he feels so unbelievably proud watching you tote it around with you everywhere you go.
• Sometimes if he isn’t sure he’s doing right by you he’ll ask the league for help and every time without fail they tell him he’s worrying far too much. One time he expressed a concern about your safety and Bruce [though secretly joking just a bit] suggested Robin training. Clark did not receive that well.
• The next day he took you to build a bear and let you get whatever you wanted without question. And if Dick tagged along with a little Jason and paid for everyone off of Bruce’s card well then that’s just very nice of him and totally unrelated to his annoyance at the comment being mentioned to the eldest son of the bat.
• He doesn’t really have anybody he considers to be good babysitters, mostly because the people that come to mind are kind of… intense. Any given member of the league would mean well but he doesn’t really love the idea of how detached a lot of them are from civilian standards. Lois is wonderful with little ones but she also has a bad habit of getting too caught up in her work, and Jimmy is…. Jimmy.
• One time Lois did watch you and he found the two of you in the middle of a disaster doing interviews. Even if you looked adorable in your matching outfits and glittery pen that scribbled nonsense onto a unicorn and dragon notepad he was still not happy that you had been dragged somewhere so dangerous.
• He kept it together since he was Superman in that moment but it was clear he wasn’t happy. Lois bought you ice cream as an apology afterward.
• One time he held you up on the roof of the barn while pointing out constellations that humans don’t usually know about. He was in the middle of explaining the story behind one of them when he realized you’d fallen asleep against his chest. Smiling he wrapped you close in the blanket you’d had and let you stay like that for a while, just wanting you to rest before he forced you to move inside and escape the cold.
