I hate to sound pretentious, but the "This deserves an Oscar" joke bothers me. People use it to describe like, what, an above average vine? I just feel like the Oscars overall elegance and professionalism deserve better than this.

Kind of want to live in Chicago to study film at a prestigious film school, but for $$$. Kind of feel like I need to stay here at home, with an ok film program and go to school for free. College choices are hard.
My family drove around tonight looking for a good place to view the super moon. We ended up in the parking lot of a nearby school. I got a few good pictures, but the clouds came quickly so we only saw the beginning. The NASA live stream is pretty funny though!
Happy Birthday!! 💯💗🍰🎁🎈
thank you so much!!!!xx
unhappy things
Life is way too short to keep unhappy things. Your ex’s phone number? That abusive friend? Yeah. Trash it. I used to never understand people who kept these things, but now I totally get it. These things are reminiscent of happier times. You’re just trying to keep those happy memories that have totally evaporated from the object. You have the right to complain to me about your boyfriend cheating, or your friend talking about you behind your back. But, you know I’ll just tell you to DROP THEM. They are toxic sludge! I understand your good intentions but please do yourself a favor and let go. Don’t stand around that group you sit with at lunch that excludes you and turns their backs. Walk away! Eat by yourself. It might hurt at first, but the pain that you feel only can heal by living. (to quote Buffy) You have to go on living, experiencing new things, and finding people who appreciate you and don’t make you feel like a melting ice cream cone on the sidewalk. New friends who appreciate you > Gross friends who ignore you. I promise.
birthday summary (I'm 18?!)
I thought today wasn't going to be super fantastic because: 1. I had school today aka waking up early 2. It was raining cats and dogs and bears and tigers and whales (lots of rain) 3. I had a major math exam today, and 2 essays due!! But today turned out to be great! I wore my new handkerchief dress from a local vintage shop, and some white keds. My bff vodkaax gave me the whole package with balloons and brownies and a beautiful card! She totally made it a great day and gave me lots of love. My friend lolopalooz gave me NINETEEN pieces of candy so guess who is having a sugar high for the next week??? (Thank you so much Lauren) OH! Also my friend Stacey sang me happy birthday in front of our whole Art History AP class which was very brave and super cute. My presents were really nice too! I got "I Hate My Selfie", Shane Dawson's new book, LOTS of new clothes, and a cute moth pin! (Also I got Schlotzsky's for dinner which is the best sandwich and also what I've been craving all week amen) All in all, today was fabulous and I'd like to thank everyone who made it special. I take the ACT tomorrow so I can't exactly turn up tonight, but I'm hangin' with happyteen225 bedcrumbsofmymind 401kguy and bbubblly tomorrow! We're going to see the movie where the old grandma makes the girl get in the oven. #thevisit #familybonding #yes I may not be the dancing queen anymore but hey at least I can vote for Bernie now!! Feel the Bern!
tips for dealing with rejection
I have a couple friends who are feeling rejected, either by a person or a group of people. I hate thinking that so many other people are probably feeling the same way. So here’s a list of 4 quick ways to deal with rejection. I hope this helps!
1. Boost your self-esteem. Make a list (mental or physical) of at least 3 great accomplishments you’ve achieved. Remember that you worked hard to achieve these, and you are an awesome person for working towards these goals and making them a reality.
2. Treat Yo’ Self. Go out to eat your favorite food. Buy a copy of that book you’ve been wanting to read. Blast your favorite music and dance around like a k-razzy person. Celebrate yourself and remember that whomever has made you feel so upset does not matter if they only cause unhappiness.
(I actually made a fun Spotify playlist for this called “Treat Yo’ Self”! Feel free to add any positive fun dance-y songs!) https://open.spotify.com/user/12175817083/playlist/6E9DBKp3AgiXNLBZCqNjG6
3. Stay healthy. When your body is rejected socially, it can sometimes feel physically painful. This is because your brain feels rejection in the same area where physical pain is felt! (I don’t remember what part of the brain this is because I don’t know all the brain-y parts but you get the idea) Treat this injury to your feelings like you would if you were physically hurt. Get lots of rest, make sure you eat healthy, and exercise! Even if it’s just walking around the block, it’ll make you feel stronger and more active.
4. Focus on doing what you love. Work on something you’re excited about. Weather it’s a video project, or reading the whole dictionary (if you’re Rory Gilmore) this will help you move on and realize that not everything is painful and disappointing (and there is a whole lot of cool stuff in life to do)! Who knows! Maybe you’ll even find some new friends that you have more in common with! Just don’t forget about your true friends that have always stuck with you.
Quick Recap! Remember you are an accomplished human being. Stay healthy, and work on being the best you possible. Work towards your dreams. Soon this feeling will sink away, and you’ll be a much stronger person overall. I believe in you! (cue x-files theme music)
Please share this because you never know who needs it!
