My personal favorites from the competitions are:

Lyra's sea monster from the End of Year competition

Zirce's bison wagon from the Western competition

Knighty's explorer from the End of Year competition

Todpog's tree frog from the Aquatic competition

I've mostly looked at survival builds on this blog so far, as that's what I watch, but creative building is a whole different beast. I thought it was interesting how many of the competition builds were organics, even though the themes were picked to be open-ended. Even in the Mechanical competition, where I would expect to see more architecture or machinery, the builds felt like organics.

When I've seen survival players work in creative, they tend to stick to the types of projects they do in survival, just at larger scale (like this Joel Smallishbeans' video). I think Pearl's an exception since she was known for doing creative building/organics first, and she's brought much of the large scale terraforming and organics into her survival building.

I'm curious to hear what you guys think about the divide in build styles between survival and creative minecrafters (and how that affects how they build in other minecraft modes). Also, tell me your favorite build from Snarple's video!

🌿 The first ever Ghoulcraft Build Contest is finally here! 🌿

July’s theme is “Gardening” so let your inner Gardner roam free and build your dream garden! The contest begins on June 28th, 2019 --  and ends on July 25th, 2019. Winners will be announced on July 30th, 2019!

3 lucky Winners (as voted by the discord channel!) will receive a custom item of their choice added to the pack, and will have their builds displayed permanently on the server! 💙

(Plots are 16x16 chunks, from sky to bedrock)

-The Rules-

Builds MUST be built on the Ghoulcraft server! (See below on how to join!)

Builds must use at least 1 Ghoulcraft item in order to be qualified. (Items can be from any PUBLIC update, not just the garden update! Please do not use Beta-Builds, as not everyone can see them.)

Builders may use any additional Resource Pack(s) they like (Please leave a sign (or two) on your plot saying which resource pack you prefer, so that I can take screenshots in the correct pack! <3) 

Builds must be PG-13. (Hurtful, Hateful, Rude, Sexual, Drug-Related, or other inappropriate builds/signs will be removed and you will be disqualified.) 

One Build Per Person. Do not use multiple accounts to up your chances. Please be honest and only build on one plot. (You cannot share plots)

Do not copy other players’ builds. Similar builds are going to happen, obviously, but don’t copy a build exactly, please!

Do not Create Lag-Machines, or use a lot of Redstone. Moving parts are amazing, but they don’t mix well with a LOT of item frames and armor stands. To reduce the amount of lag happening all at once, Please keep your redstone to a minimum.

- How to Start Building - 

You need to be playing on 1.14.2, and you must be using Optifine.

(To install Optifine, open an unmodded (clean) 1.14.2 minecraft profile and play it at least once. Exit the game and Download Optifine from [Here]. Double-click the optifine jar and allow it to install. You do not need Forge to use Optifine. Now choose the Optifine 1.14.2 profile before you log in, and ta-da!)

Log in to the Ghoulcraft Server. [[ IP: Ghoulcraft.com  ]]

Go to /Warp Build, and type “/P Auto” to be assigned a plot!

- How to Submit Your Build - 

When you’re all finished building, take a screenshot of your build (just one!) and  post it in the Discord channel’s “Build Contest Submissions” channel, along with this form:
