Sunday drive to the south, an hour and a bit to Balete where @mtheresesilva and @melayrecto have their property. • Beautiful bukid area with a view of Taal lake. We had a relaxing afternoon in the sun then dinner al fresco on their brick-paved patio chico. • There were assorted rice cakes with coconut jam,bonete (the locally made bread) and lomi, a noodle in thick broth topped with chili, calamansi and crispy meat. • Dinner was grilled pork belly, chicken inasal, wild fern and tomato salad, grilled aubergine, tawilis - small sardines from the lake and bulalo- beef shank and bone marrow soup. • We ate under large fruit trees strung up with lights and with hanging parols - traditional Philippine Christmas star decorations.
