Rant Warning! [again]
Yep still stuck on this Michael Weatherly/Eliza Dushku crap. Can't help it I’m a dweller.
I don’t care if people decide they don’t like him or her. That’s their right. Just so long as they keep to the facts and keep it respectful. If you choose to be against one or the other then fine but don’t go aiming insults and verbal abuse at them and those that support them.
At the end of the day as far as they were concerned it was settled a year ago and they should have been left to move on. Eliza is a newlywed, getting a diploma and apparently has a movie in the works. She said herself she does not want to be the centre of a media storm. The journalists that dug it up should've respected the NDA and left well enough alone. No one should’ve commented or made statements either in hindsight but I suppose they were guided by publicists and did what they were advised to.
For those who have sent tweets to Bojana that was wrong. Especially those that made comments about their daughter. How would you feel if you messed up and people started to make assumptions about your family and then putting it in the public domain? What if your mistake affected the careers and lives of your families? There are innocent children that could be affected by people’s selfish desire to get on the high horse and jump to conclusions.
Let they who are without sin cast the first stone. The fact that you're on twitter and nobody knows you does not make it ok to be cruel.
As for sticking to the facts:
I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again...the 9.5 million was because she lost out on work that she had been verbally assured of. It was the loss of earnings.
Those of you who are calling for Michael to be fired or BULL cancelled:
He plays a character called Bull on a show called BULL...if he goes, the show goes and everyone else’s jobs with it. How’s that in any way fair and what difference would it make now? Eliza herself did not insist that he be fired she only insisted that there be someone on set that makes sure it doesn't happen again. Perfectly reasonable in my opinion.
Bringing up Michaels past relationship with Jessica Alba. Yes she was young and there was an age gap but she was still an adult and age gaps are quite common. They were together for 3 years it wasn't just a fling.
He messed up yes. The jokes he made may have been ok if he was just amongst friends but they weren't ok for the workplace. But he’s accepted responsibility, apologised and if given the chance he’ll learn from it if he hasn't in the year since it was officially settled.
He’s been in the business for 30 years and this is the first time this has happened. It’s not a pattern of behaviour. You cant throw him in with the likes of Harvey Weinstein and Kevin Spacey, they are rapists and molesters. Harassment and abuse are not the same things. Michael never laid a hand on Eliza, there were no dodgy pictures or physical harm. It was just inappropriate jokes. Bad yes but not a crime, it does not make him a pervert, or unsafe to be around children. That is an unfair, narrow-minded and judgemental and those who have made those comments should be ashamed of themselves
I understand that just because men respect most women doesn't mean they respect all women but at the same time just because a man behaves badly to one woman doesn't mean he behaves badly to them all.
We weren't there! We don't have all the facts. We don't have any real context.
The man has a mother, wife, daughter and god know how many sisters [I seem to recall he has 11/12 siblings]. If he was a genuine jerk they’d kick his arse. If he was a genuine jerk his former co-stars wouldn't have jumped to his defence and declared their love, support and friendship. They were not condoning his actions they were defending his character, they know him. Pauley Perrette is a rape survivor and was mistreated on the set of NCIS if her tweets when she left were anything to go by but she still declared her love, friendship and support. Shouldn't that tell you something???
The fact that the cast and crew of BULL are standing by him should give people reason to think that maybe there’s more to it that we don’t know [pretty much a guaranteed fact]. They were there. They know him and that he’s a good man overall despite the fuck up two years ago.
Just in case anyone has anything to say to this I shall say again.. I have nothing against Eliza. I can see why she was offended by what he said.
This started because she was confused and angry that she was written out/fired and who wouldn't be?
However, I don't believe that she should blame the whole thing on Michael. She should’ve said something when she first felt uncomfortable instead of waiting a while. Was it obvious she wasn't happy right from the first of the jokes or did she laugh along even if she was uncomfortable? Did they generally get along before it became a mess? We don't know.
CBS could’ve reacted differently. They could’ve overruled Caron. They could've got Michael and Eliza to talk it out with someone and each other to see if they could overcome the jokes, move on and continue working together.
There is so much to this that we will never know. Attacking people and making assumptions based on the little we do know is wrong. There’s a bigger picture here. For the sake of their families if you're not going to let this go at least be respectful. Discuss instead of arguing. Be polite instead of being mean. At the end of the day, what's done is done and Twitter disputes are not going to change anything.
