I remember when we still didn't know Sofia's gender that I couldn't decide if I wanted (another) boy or a girl. The biggest pro having another boy was that I did not have to go shopping for more clothes, accessories and toys. The biggest pro for a girl was that I could consider myself out of the baby-making business for good.
Obviously we ended up with a girl and man has my online shopping addiction reared it's ugly head. It started with baby clothes because of course you need girl clothes right? Then I got to thinking about cloth diapering. We spent a huge bundle on diapers and our boy was in them for quite some time.
So you wonder, where does this woman do her online shopping? Amazon, I tell you, is an online shopping addict's haven. My brother is coming over in a few months and boy have I been delivering items to his doorstep every few weeks. There was the foldable bassinet, the Moby baby carrier, Bum Genius Elementals cloth diapers and most recently some breast pump accessories, a wet bag and diaper pail bag.
Then I discovered this Facebook group for cloth nappying called the MCNP. I was able to buy some Grovia cloth diaper covers there. I got to read about the different nappy systems and how to care for diapers. That's when I found out that they needed to be laundered a certain way and with simple eco-friendly detergents. So I ended up buying Human Nature detergent soap since it was eco and cloth diaper friendly.
Of course I must have mentioned that my friend owns an online shop called the Eco Baby Boutique? So there I saw that she had some Grovia soakers and proceeded to purchase some. My friend told me that most likely I won't be able to use the soakers right away and she recommended prefold diapers for the newborn stage. So yep, I bought those as well.
While reading some posts on the MCNP group I noticed they kept referring to group buys. Lo and behold there is another Facebook group where they pool their resources to get wholesale prices on baby items. I'm going to join my first group buy tomorrow for .... more detergent called Charlie's soap!
However, the group buy tomorrow is not just for detergent, they've got some Mustela products thrown in and I was intrigued. I've heard of Mustela before as a high priced baby care line. My firstborn survived on J&J products so I thought why bother. I just can't help this nagging feeling in me that hey it's being offered at a lower price and why not?
I can't seem to stop myself. I need help. Either that or I'll call this the "nesting" instinct since next week I will be 8 months preggy. Gosh.
