Bun Appetit Donuts, 37120 Fremont Blvd., Ste A, Fremont (Centerville), CA 94536, Score: 40/50
Why doesn’t this place have buns? Anyway, Bun Appetit opened recently in a new shopping center called Artist Walk in the Centerville neighborhood. It’s already popular with laptop campers.
Food: 4/5 – They have two donut styles, both using raised donuts: round ones that are filled and flat round ones with a hole in the middle and glaze and toppings on top. There are no cake donuts. They also have toasts, cookies, cakes, and a case of Humphry Slocombe ice cream. Donuts are made on site. I quite enjoyed the matcha cream donut ($3.50) which was fresh, soft and filled with lots of not too sweet matcha cream. The Ultimate avocado toast ($7) was fine but they should use better bread.
Coffee: 3/5 – They serve Verve Coffee, so you’d think it would be good. However, I didn’t like the drip coffee ($2.50 small) – it tasted overroasted. They have espresso drinks too.
Wi-fi: 4/5 – Free, unlimited, but not secure. The password is printed on the receipt. It worked fine while I was there.
Ambiance: 5/5 – The building is brand new and the interior looks clean, bright and modern. It features a concrete floor, white subway tile, wood counter, white walls, high ceilings and new furniture.
Noise: 4/5 – The sounds echo a little but it’s not too bad. I heard music but it wasn’t loud. It was soft jazz
Plugs: 5/5 – There are outlets around the perimeter
Parking: 4/5 – Private shared parking lot with ample parking. The retail spaces have a 3 hour limit. Don’t park in the residential spaces. It doesn’t look like finding parking will be an issue.
Comfort: 4/5 – The chairs are new and padded. The tables aren’t too close together.
Bathroom: 4/5 – One unisex, clean and brand new.
Art: 3/5 – None, unless you count their logo on the wall
Tips: Toast is served weekdays from 6 AM – 3 PM and weekends from 7 AM – 4 PM.
