Headed out to see my MD in a couple of hours for a routine check-up. If there is a ground zero for Coronavirus the medical clinic my insurance is partnered with is it. The staff - including my Doctor, and a majority of patients are Chinese (a lot of them are recent immigrants). The media tells me I should be terrified because I'm roughly 50 (middle aged) and in poor health to begin with. But you know what? I'm not even slightly worried. For one thing, I'm aware that, "in all things God works for the good of those who love him" (so whether I'm well or sick, praise God, its working for good even if I can’t perceive it) and for another, I think this entire Coronavirus thing is being blown well out of proportion to the actual risk it poses.
Lord help us if this is the modern reaction to a virus no deadlier than your average strain of the flu. How Kafkaesque will the response be when something truly scary comes down the turnpike?
