In the end it is your choice to keep pirating the show, as there is no other way to see it. No shame in dropping this season however. And as tokusatsu is amazing you still got a lot of past season and non-toei shows, alongside animes and FX heavy movies. Keep fighting for humanity, riders

"I want to start 'preparing for the end'" "Cold sleep is a positive thing"… MIKIKO talks to Yasuyuki Okamura about her life's work as Perfume and what the future holds

“Cold Sleep Is Something Positive”

Okamura: I see. When you, sensei, use a term like “end-of-life planning,” it really makes me pause. It almost makes me connect it with Perfume’s “cold sleep.”

MIKIKO: For me, “cold sleep” isn’t an ending—it’s a beginning. I see it as something very positive.

For female artists in their late thirties to continue performing at the forefront without a single injury, without canceling a single live show, and without losing even one member may look completely natural from the outside. But in reality, they’ve achieved it through constant effort, repeatedly renewing themselves in many different ways. And it’s not as if it was painful for them—nothing like that at all. For them, it was happiness. So it’s not a case of “we’re returning to ordinary human life.”

But choosing to take a break in order to truly face one’s happiness as an individual—and presenting that option to younger artists as well—is extremely rare in the Japanese entertainment industry. It really gives the feeling that they’ve “seen it through to the end.” That’s because the group was created by the three of them themselves. I wanted the decision to come from them, not to have the group brought to an end by someone else. In that sense, I think it was a very good thing.

Okamura: So, in other words, you want to give them the chance to experience life events such as marriage and childbirth—as individual women—during the period of cold sleep.

MIKIKO: That’s right. Those are things they couldn’t do precisely because Perfume existed, and age inevitably comes into play as well. So I want them to experience, even once, the things people call “normal.” If after that they still feel they want to continue Perfume, then that’s perfectly fine too.

I want them to try things they haven’t been able to experience until now, without setting a deadline, following their hearts. As human beings—and as women—I want them to have rich, fulfilling lives.

Sakurai Sho to starring a new drama next year.

Bushun revealed that Sakurai Sho (38) will make a serial drama next april. The tentative name for the drama is “Nemesis” and it will be broadcast on sundays at 10pm (NTV). He will co-star again  with Hirose Suzu (22). Sakurai co-starred with Suzu at the movie Laplace no majo on 2018 and also at Kohaku Uta Gassen the same year.  

Source also says Hashimoto Kanna (21) will appear in the drama.  In fact “Nemesis” is a large scale project that includes a movie after the drama.

Sakurai who is well know as an MC and news caster will return to acting after 3 years of starting a “Saki ni umareta dake no boku” in 2017 Meanwhile during the arashi hiatus, Ohno moves with his girlfriend to an isolated island in the south and Aiba also moves with his partner to a new big villa with hot springs that he bought recently. More scoops to come.

Another Bunshun article

Some of you might remember the last Bunshun article about Kalafina. It was being spread around by everyone and their mother even though it was full of garbage content. I only made a quick post about it warning people not to be gullible and believe the shit that was being said in that tabloid paper. Please check out that post first before continuing to read this one.

Today another big article was published and while it’s not about Kalafina per se it revolves around Space Craft and what’s “supposedly” going on behind the scenes in the agency. I am afraid these news will get as much attention as the last article so I thought I would deliver a warning for all of you to tread lightly and take everything you might read with a grain of salt.

It’s a long-ass article filled with lots of trash so I will not waste my time translating it. 

In short, the article is about singer/actress Chiaki Kuriyama who has been signed up with Space Craft for 30 years (since she was 5 years old!) and has now decided to leave and become independent. They are going on and on about the horrible condtitions at Space Craft and how the CEO (Ōnishi Kazuoki) is ruining the company with his poor management regarding salaries and such. There is once again mention of Mori Yasetetsu (=M氏), the manager who left Space Craft and created chaos with his departure since it resulted in Yuki Kajiura and many staff members leaving as well.

The whole thing is reported in a VERY SENSATIONAL way that really cannot be taken seriously. As always there are NO reliable sources, everything is according to “anonymous person xy”. So yeah, don’t take this stuff at face value!

Now don’t get me wrong, I am sure there is some truth in all of that. We all know Space Craft isn’t the greatest agency and Mori’s departure has certainly fucked up the office even more. This Ōnishi guy seems to be unsuited to run the company on his own and people are jumping ship left and right. However, I doubt circumstances are as bad as they would have us believe in this article.

Wakana has stayed with Space Craft on her own free will and I trust her judgement. There is no indication whatsoever that her conditions of employment are as bad as some of the statements in the article would suggest. Until the day she leaves Space Craft (or it becomes obvious that she is being exploited or otherwise treated unfairly) I don’t think it makes sense to vilify the agency.
