What is #borderhopping ? 🏃🏻♂️🏃🏻♂️🏃🏻♂️ I am using this word quite often lately and I am not sure if it is a real word or not🤔 🏃🏻♂️🏃🏻♂️🏃🏻♂️ What do I mean by it? Crossing a border between two or more countries just to say that you have visited this country 🛣 🏃🏻♂️🏃🏻♂️🏃🏻♂️ The reasons why I love border hopping so much are not only for statistical reasons (to say things like "I have visited so many countries this year") but also for cultural reasons. Cities which lie directly at a border are somehow special. Many commuters cross the border on a every day basis by bike or car as if it is the most normal thing to do. Businesses exist, which could not exist without the customers from the other country 🎭 🏃🏻♂️🏃🏻♂️🏃🏻♂️ Sometimes it may seem, that borders between countries are a useless relict from past times. Whether this is true or not should not be the topic of this post, but at places like Burghausen🇩🇪 and Ach🇦🇹 the construct of borders seems surreal. People live together and commute to work like there is no border, yet still just a few steps further there are other laws and traditions. 🏃🏻♂️🏃🏻♂️🏃🏻♂️ This being said: YEAH! I CROSSED THIS BORDER-RIVER OF SALZACH AND VISITED AUSTRIA THIS YEAR! 🇦🇹🇦🇹🇦🇹🇦🇹 (even though I did not even cross the complete bridge😂) 🏃🏻♂️🏃🏻♂️🏃🏻♂️ Do you count border hopping as "visiting" another country? 🗺 . . . #burghausen #burghausencastle #ach #salzach #inn #germany #austria #🇦🇹 #🇩🇪 #deutschland #österreich #castle #view #border #grenzgaenger #grenzgänger #grenzenlos #bordertown #burg #schloss #fluss #germany🇩🇪 #austria🇦🇹 #river #travel #trip #instatravel #österreich🇦🇹 #österreichurlaub (hier: Burghausen Castle) https://www.instagram.com/p/CDmI_ZRKwuF/?igshid=pf9kf8xzwslj
