"Where's Derek?" Braeden asked the woman who was now stood in the loft. She stopped just as she stepped inside the door and folded her arms across her chest.

'' Too much .. I can't hadle it. Voices.. I can't .. ''
"I will protect you with my life."
"No need to be so dramatic." He snorted before softening, leaning his head against her shoulder. "I would for you, too. You know that, right?"
Facing the Ghost | Closed (buriedbeneathbane)
The first time she saw Laura, Nina was convinced she had consumed too much coffee on the night shift and that she was sleep deprived. Agreeing to cover a shift after a few hours of sleep really hadn’t been the smartest thing Nina had ever done. She’d gone to sleep dreaming of sleepovers of the past and woken up to an empty apartment her younger self would have found empty and boring.
She thought she saw Laura once at the food store. Standing in the middle of the produce department, Nina was looking at the cotton candy flavored grapes and wondering who thought it was a good idea to make them exist. She hadn't so much seen Laura as felt a familiar presence before seeing a woman with dark hair turn the corner out of the department. It had probably just been a random person but after nights of wondering how life would have been if Laura was still alive she started to see her friend everywhere and in everything she did.
Mostly it was just wondering to herself what Laura would have said about the really lame Christmas decorations around town or the fireworks display on the 4th of July, or does this dress actually make her look great.
So when she saw Laura walking in town she had seriously wondered if perhaps she needed to check herself into that weird Eichen House outside of town. Especially when she saw her again.
The third time had been the final straw. She'd started to follow her once the shock wore off only to lose her a minute later. Nina began to look for Laura everywhere when she went out. Around every corner, every trash can, every time the door opened for the diner she would look up hoping it was Laura.
Now here she was. Standing outside an apartment she'd seen Laura enter earlier. Laura. Dead Laura. Previously alive best friend. Friend who had left Beacon Hills and Nina behind only to return and die. Her midnight snack buddy, her chemistry class partner, her go-to person for trouble and mischief.
There was no way she was alive. She'd seen the articles, kept up with the investigation and Derek from afar. The woman on the other side of the door would be a normal human who Nina would make some excuse to about a misplaced address and she would leave, knowing she was crazy, and feel the loss all over again.
"Let's get this over with," she muttered.
She knocked.
"Where do you think you're going?"
Derek froze as he heard his sister's voice. He had been sneaking out of the house to go see Paige, but he was HOPING no one would hear him sneaking out the window. "............ No where."

"So, do I have something on my face, or am I just so ugly my face warrants staring?"
