"I didn't realize that you were back in town. Did... Did you manage to find her?"
"Are you even listening to yourself?"
"My singing is just fine, thank you."
[No, it's really not but he's clearly in denial.]
[Meme] It nearly happened again: losing someone she loved. One of the few people she cared for. And like she did and would do again and again, Cora searched high and low for days when she got that call. For a moment, she breathed. In utter relief that he wasn't gone, but when she saw him at the hospital... "Don't scare me like that," she whispered as she held his hand. "Don't you dare be so stupid. I can't lose you."
Derek didn't even remember what had happened really. He remembered going to get some groceries at the store because it was his turn and they somehow managed to run out of EVERYTHING. He remembered looking at the expiration dates on a pack of juice things that he thought Cora might like when things just went.... Black.
The next thing he knew he was staggering down the highway leading into town, scared, clothes in tattered clothing that was about three sizes two big for him, and covered in fading bruises and healing cuts. He was suffering from hypothermia and dehydration, shivering when he collapsed on the side of the road just as a familiar Jeep screeched to a halt in front of him. Whatever had happened, though, he DID remember pain. It presented itself in nightmares of demonic figures dancing around him and sticking him with things that made him feel like he was on fire. He had been trying to keep himself from sleeping when she came in, grateful that she was there.
"If I could remember what happened I'll make sure it doesn't happen again." He promised softly, squeezing her hand back tiredly.
"Hey, Derek- gah! Keep forgetting, you're a teenager now." And hot, Tori added mentally.
Derek blinked at her, cocking his head. "I'm in your biology class. How can you forget?" he asked in confusion.
"Good Boy"
Derek let himself fall to his knees, head tipping back so that Jim had an easier time fastening the red collar. He was still learning about the different things he was supposed to do as a pet, but Jim said that they could try it out and see what he thought. To be honest, he was excited, trying very hard to keep the grin off his face.
"Hear my heartbeat? Just focus on that."
Derek panted, shivering as he felt the wolfsbane making its way through his body slowly, blinking up with a blurry vision, unable to quite make out who it was. Their heartbeat was strong though, calming him somewhat.
"Hear my heartbeat? Just focus on that."
Derek whined, panting as his eyes glowed blue and his hands shook; he had just woken from a nightmare. One of the fire... Well, after it. The returning memeories were going to be the death of him someday, and they hit like a freight train when they presented themselves. He did as he was bidden, though, listening hard to Scott's heart beat as he slumped against his Alpha and whimpered again.
