Broken Feathers, Burning Hearts

Qrow flew high and fast over Patch. He’d been at work at Signal until he got a frantic call from Tai that the girls had run off somewhere. So he was searching the ground near the house while Qrow searched from the skies. He refused to panic just yet. They were on fucking Patch, what was the worst that could happen? As long as the girls got home safely this could even be the wakeup call Tai needed. After Summer and Raven… he wasn’t the same. Neither of them were, but unlike Qrow, Tai wasn’t used to dealing with a lifetime of tragedy.
He saw a knot of Beowulf around an old farmhouse and his need to find his nieces warred with his obligations as a huntsman. They didn’t gather like that without reason.
Then he saw what that reason was. And sheer terror set in.
Yang and Ruby were there.
He dove hard and fast, praying that he made it in time. He shifted as he flew behind the derelict building, drawing his scythe as he lunged at the pack, his expression one of deadly intent even as inside of him terror reigned.
