When I was asked to appear at the Camp Celestial Bodies virtual stage at this year's Burning Man, a question popped into my head. What do I play? What style? What sound? I have not attended Burning Man in person, before. From what limited understanding of it I have is that it is a gathering that involves removal of societal norms, to free the human spirit and mind for a few precious days (as well as disconnection from societal pillars such as status, money, and mass communications) and to enjoy the company of like-minded individuals. Surely therefore, I could do the same, join in the spirit of Burning Man with everyone else, and change my normal style? I could release myself of what would be normally be expected of me as a DJ, and not play circuit remixes, tribal house, or techno? So, these two shows were the result: my progressive trance set. A totally separate sound unlike anything else I have played for a live audience before. It's a deeper sound, hypnotic, melodic, sparse on lyrics or vocals, and resembles my techno sets, but with more of a dance element to them. I understand that some of you were not able to catch the shows live in the Multiverse App or online on Twitch, so I have uploaded the live recordings to hearthis and mixcloud for you to listen to, at your convenience. I hope you like them.
