Overthinking so loud it needs noise-canceling
Sometimes I think it was just… easier to watch tennis before I got into the online fandom. Like back when I was just a tennis fan, you know?
When I didn’t know all the backstories or the politics, or the endless drama. When I barely knew anything about the players beyond their names and who won or lost. It used to be so much simpler - just watching a match for what it was.
Now it feels like every point comes with bonus context I never asked for. They’re not just guys with racquets hitting a ball anymore; they’re walking discourse generators with parasocial lore attached. I miss when I could just yell at the TV about a bad forehand and then move on with my day, instead of… whatever this is, carrying the collective trauma of the ATP tour in my brain at all times.
