I actually looked into military hierarchy when I was fleshing out Burns. His position isn't random — I wanted a character who could stand on equal footing with Quaritch and carry out his will. That's why his rank is Major, and his role is Senior Navigation Instructor. Plus, he's the favorite — he understands the Colonel without words — so he's earned the right to be his second-in-command 🥴🥴 It's pretty common in the military to divide responsibilities among the leadership, so Burns fits in perfectly with Lyle and Quaritch. He and Lyle share the "right-hand man" duties and they're buddies. All three of them — including Quaritch — get along and understand each other. But sometimes Lyle and Burns forget that their third buddy is also their direct superior 😐

I've seen people headcanon that recoms can purr, and I love that idea so much I had to draw it too 😔😔 The thought of two tough 50-year-old men getting Na'vi cat bodies and absolutely losing their shit over it cracks me up.
