#burnt hand

I burned my hand. Currently in bed. It hurts. It feels like lava is being poured on to my hand.

Good thing is, I'm right handed. I can still draw.

my hand hurts

(definitely not because I absentmindedly grabbed the handle of a pan I’d just gotten out of the oven)

So, I forgot the skillet had been inside an oven, because I was cooking for my parents in between taking my mom with dementia to her acupuncture appointment and taking my dad to his just-moved-to-a-new-timeslot dialysis appointment. All via rideshares because I’m the ADHD-non-driving adult child.

That’s how I just-barely-grabbed the super-hot pan handle, and I got my hand under running water and then into a bowl of ice.  I got fresh ice every 20 minutes during all of dad’s 4 hours of dialysis because the clinic has an ice machine.  It was distracting because I kept spilling really cold melting water on myself but it helped pass the time.  Pic one is about two hours after the burn, and you can see a white edge where my hand got more of the handle. 

Pic two is after I got home and was able to get Oil of Egg mixed with lavender essential oil onto the burn. That combo is the bomb for wounds of any sort, and applying it to painful conditions always results in the pain stopping. I’m sorry I had to wait about six hours to get the pain of this to stop, but it was gone in under a minute.

Pic three is later in the evening, and the two handle edges are quite obvious, and I expect those to change texture more. Also, on my pinky, there is the tiniest blister at the outermost edge of the second knuckle, where that finger *just* touched the handle too. There is a subtle surface track of burn on the outermost layers of skin connecting the pinpoint blister and the big burn.

is anyone else dumb enough to put your hand in the oven to get something out and you accidentally touch the elements on the top with your knuckles?
