They Get what They Deserve
The stars burned holes in the sky,
as we watched midnight burn in delight,
and set fire to the gods eyes,
‘til they let us free,
‘til they let us breathe.
We watched as the wind was all that was heard,
as the gods received what so long was deserved.
The plumes of smoke blanketed the earth,
so we ran away, ‘til our hearts couldn't take...
We ran and ran,
through forest and fern.
But why keep running when we’ll all feel the burn?
And the flames they arose,
as if from our feet.
So we ran and ran,
'til the rain cooled the streets.
Why keep running when we’ll all feel the burn?
Why fall in love when we’ll always get hurt?
Why do we live when there's nothing to earn?
She took my hand and said these words...
We fall in love,
to feel the pain.
For without the hurt,
there shall be no gain.
Love is life,
and life is heartache...
