new finds: k-music edition #2

if you want something fresh from the korean music scene, here are some recs for y’all

bbb - hus (feat. chuu)

bubblegum kpop, with chuu’s lovely vocals, really cutesy melody and sounds, also its a pretty catchy tune to listen to

aqua blue - burbey

this track has some real retro sounding elements, a little city pop influence in there, keeping it summery and the little flute sound and saxophone make it jazzy and fun, love it, a great way to stand out from recent releases

snowy summer - close your eyes

this group is coming strong with a more r&b/2000s style, something really refreshing from a 5th gen group, and the mv begging reminds me a lot to shinee’s ‘married to the music’, fun storytelling in it. also, if you can check out ‘paint candy’, its another great track. and idk but to me, some tracks remind me of a ‘rewind’ by shinee vibe, that sort of sound.

new car - ryu sujeong

a soloist track, this is from a member of lovelyz, and I really liked the visual style of the mv, and the sound has an 80s feel imo, with synths and a groovy melody

birthday- the deep

for a more hyperpop/edm audience, the deep goes for this sort of sound. this track is her latest release, and I also recommend ‘sad girls club’, my favorite of hers. the mv is a blend of 2000s mcbling with a 2014 aesthetic, if anyone is into that sort of visual style

her - sumin, slom (feat. zion t)

the sumin and slom duo projects are top tier, this is their latest but miniseries 2 is my favorite album of them, songs like ‘tic toc tic toc’, ‘why, why, why’ and ‘endless night’ are my standouts (if you like wonder girl’s ‘rewind’ as much as me, PLEASE check ‘endless night’), I love the r&b, city pop ish sounds they have going on, definitely a unit to pay attention to
