🍎 : how stable is my muse’s mental health? have they been diagnosed with any mental illnesses and / or conditions? do they have any undiagnosed mental illnesses and / or conditions? do they or should they attend therapy?
Pete’s mental health is incredibly not good or stable. (The boy has been dressing up in spider-print long johns and swinging around the city on his own fancy rope for the better part of a decade. If that’s not a cry for help, I don’t know what is.) He’s dealt with bouts of moderate to severe anxiety and depression since he was a kid, which have only been exacerbated by the... everything about his life. He also copes with pretty severe PTSD and survivor’s guilt (again from the everything about his life, but with particular regards to the deaths of his uncle Ben and Gwen Stacy.) He’s also very likely got ADHD, but that, like everything else, is undiagnosed.
Therapists hate him! Or they would, if he went to therapy, which he absolutely should. Unfortunately, he can’t afford it. He also knows that even if he had the money or time, he wouldn’t be able to go: seeing a therapist would involve revealing his second life as Spider-Man, which has never been an option. (Are therapists even trained to deal with his brand of masked vigilante issues?) Peter’s also just too stubborn and defensive to accept help. Whatever’s going on with him, he can handle it himself. He always has. He always will.
