THE VAs ARE COMING BACK?!?!?!

OK so Imma rant a mo', thanks!

There's a new smartphone game for YYH in the works, with the ORIGINAL JAPANESE VOICE ACTORS reprising their roles as Hiei, Kurama, Yusuke, and Kuwabara. "Yu Yu Hakusho 100% Maji Battle" doesn't have an official release date just yet, but it's happening. I suspect it will be region locked and only playable outside Japan if you get (*ahem*) creative with your technology.

The fact that they're assembling the original VAs has sent my business-conspiracy-side into overdrive. Clearly the VAs are still interested in the series if they're willing to reprise their characters (YYH was wildly popular in its day, so that's no surprise), which means a rebooted anime has a good chance of getting those actors on board (provided a reboot happens, of course). And if those actors are on board, perhaps that means a new anime has a better chance of being made in the first place.

I went to school for (among other things) business, specifically marketing, and I am having a VERY HARD TIME not reading into all of the 25th anniversary shenanigans as prep for a series reboot, remaster, or SOMETHING. The multiple cafes, the new character artwork(!!!), the games, the merch—it's hard not to see that as potential market research and product development.

"Oh look, people still love the series after 25 years; let's make a reboot since it still has an audience," I imagine a suited executive saying in a distant boardroom. "Let's bring back YYH and make a buck or three."

The returned VAs add fuel to my (over-excited) fire.

Granted, anime cafes in Japan seem somewhat commonplace, so perhaps I'm projecting American cultural norms onto a practice that shouldn't actually raise eyebrows. BUT I CAN DREAM, DANG IT, SO LET ME HAVE THIS MODICUM OF HOPE.

The official 25th anniversary date for the anime is October 10th (the anime began airing on October 10, 1992). That'd be a prime day to announce a rebooted series a la the hunterxhunter reboot or the Sailor Moon: Crystal reboot. Since Togashi is the creator of hunterxhunter AND is married to the creator of Sailor Moon, that just adds fuel to my wild speculation fire.

OK. Rant over. But with all this anniversary hoopla and the recent rash of rebooted series (explicitly connected to Togashi, no less), PLUS the returning VAs, my hopes are way up...BRB gonna go cry in a corner now because I’m so nervous-scared my boys might be coming back.  ｡･ﾟﾟ*(>д<)*ﾟﾟ･｡
