After the recent incidents we felt we had to open our voice up and be part of the conversation, again. #LetsTalkDisasters #EmergencyPreparation #SafetyatWork Planning for #disasters is hard on the emotions. Truly for us all. It's plain rough. It's really rough on us, #BusinessContinuityPlanner, because it requires hours of #ContinuingEducation every week. We are immersed in trainings, seminars and the news as part of the process of planning and recognizing risk. #NotPlanningHasConsequences that we can't start to put into words. It's impossible to describe though many in #SonomaCountyStrong have walked that path this past 3 years. The hardest thing for us is - we are #planners, #solutions, pre-crisis, #prevention - without a pre-plan we can't help. We compare it to a doctor. If you have the doctor come to you he has only what's in his bag to help you. If you go to a doctor's office there are more tools than in his bag. When you go to the hospital resources become far more abundant. It's the same with planning. If you have no plan you may not even have a doctor to call. The better your plan the more resources at your finger tips. Calling us before the next disaster is critical to #businesssurvival and thriving. Sadly, we are trained in #ActiveShooter as well. It was the hardest FEMA course we took. We chose to be certified in religious house active shooter. We felt it gave us the broadest perspective.
