this part is so important #toME!!!!!!! because diya really doesn't see herself as quiet. she's not really like... shy. or timid. just... anxious, and yes, quiet. but she doesn't think she is. because she talks in her mind!! so many of her lines in her pov are just her monologuing or making comments in her mind, she often answers questions in her mind rather than aloud. she IS quiet, but she doesn't think she is because she's so internally focused. and because diya is the first pov, we're kinda... inclined to agree with her? it's obvious that she's anxious, but we get so much of her internal world and thoughts and feelings because we're her. but once u play the other povs that's just... non-existent. because she doesn't voice these thoughts. because she is quiet. idk i find it interesting

it's the snakey of it all.

the fact that noelle keeps the plush (in perfect condition on her bed) for as long as she can. for years. that she holds it when she's upset. that it reminds diya of her. that noelle doesn't like snakes and thinks stuffed animals are a waste of space. but she holds onto it for so so long. because it's diya. it's from diya. it signifies their friendship. and this matters. so it matters.

it's so insane to me.

i kid you not i think about this interaction like everyday. think about the parenting test like everyday. like, yeah, obviously, not viable. but i do think the way these two 14 year olds conceptualize it and the reasoning for it is so sad yet so emotionally mature. these two (disregarding bfs2 for a minute) have such an overarching theme involving their parents and how -- though through incredibly different means -- their parents have failed them, have been cruel to them. it's what strings these two very different characters together; their bonding over this. them both overtly coming to this same conclusion of how their parents became their parents. not through love or care but through desire of status and fulfillment of a perceived 'duty'. them both taking their own measures to go against it in their own lives. whatever... minelle makes me so sad.

my favourite thing about bfs is that noelle is just this freak that everyone around is fascinated by. and it makes sense, too. she's actually so insane that it just feels natural that diya and akarsha are as obsessed with her as they are. and min, too, even if it's obsessed in the wanting to kill her way. my freak <3
