Thinking about Future’s Blurry verse and checking timeline and like-

Glaucus shows up so far back in time that Besithia isn’t even head scientist yet. Besithia doesn’t get to be a fancy scientist for another six years or so, at least not the HEAD scientist.

This means when Glaucus tracks him down and finds him he’s NOT EVEN HEAD HONCHO. He’s gonna be one of the up and coming, competitive scamps of a scientist looking to prove his superiority over the competition.

And then Glaucus double dog dares him to do the impossible and come up with a vaccine for the scourge. Something all his colleagues, peers, and superiors have long deemed the impossible.

I was wondering how realistic it was for Besithia to leave his cushy head scientist job on a dare but like- THIS IS SO MUCH BETTER. HE’S NOT HEAD SCIENTIST. HE’S A RECKLESS MORON LOOKING TO PROVE HIMSELF.

AND THEN THIS MADMAN TEENAGE LUCIS CAELUM

COMES IN

SPECIFICALLY TARGETING BESITHIA OUT OF ALL THE EGGHEADS THERE.

AND ACTS LIKE BESITHIA IS THE DANGEROUS ONE. THE SMART ONE. OUT OF ALL THE SCIENTISTS IN THE FACILITY. INCLUDING BESITHIA’S SUPERIORS.

Talk about an ego boost in the face of death.

No wonder Besithia (who is like- only 22 at this point) went with Glaucus.

Finally someone who appreciates his intellect.
