//So I had a thought at work, and it's kind of a wish list sort of thing. I kinda wanna thread where Max has a pen pal of sorts while he's in jail, like maybe there's a program of some kind where people can volunteer to write prisoners or something. And I want these two to have been sending letters back and forth for the majority of the times he's in there, and then his last letter is basically telling them that he's getting out soon and that he'd like to meet them if they were okay with that and going from there.
It doesn't even have to be a shippy thing. It can be someone he ends up being really good friends with too. I dunno, I like the idea of him having more than just his brother to talk to ya know?
complications looks better than okay but i read somewhere that there’s a lesbian characters and that’s actually enough to make me at least watch the first couple of episodes.
Random selfie because I was feeling pretty this morning getting read for church...
Beginning
00:30 am The night was calm on the coast. A warm breeze blew into the 32 year old woman's face. She felt unnerved by the calmness of the night, like the night before as well. She frowned as she recalled the day it all started again. It was three days ago, they received intel that someone had the Item, so they had to take turns watching over the boy. If they didn't he would either disappear or die. Maybe they would be the ones who died too. Nobody knew for sure. The Item was supposed to be hidden away at a location only a certain few knew of. They never spoke of it after that day. Did someone rat them out? The woman let out a sigh as she looked into the water, her eyepatch getting her attention. She smiled as she recalled how she got it. 01:45 am Watching the stars seemed to be a good way to waste time, especially on a cloudless night like this one. Though the night wouldn't continue the way the woman thought it would. 01:50 am A blast. She looked towards the way the sound came from. Smoke. '' Shit.'' She muttered with a scowl and took off toward the building it came from. 01:57 am '' Ma'am! He's loose! We tried to restrain him. We used the sedatives, but they didn't work. He didn't even stumble from them.'' A big, round man met the woman on the way. Panting and dirty. '' I think I'm the only one who survived... I was on my way out to tell you what happened when the blast happened.'' He looked at her with big, worried eyes. They betrayed fear as well. The woman scowled and looked down thinking what is the best course of action, a second later, she looked at her subordinate with determined eyes. '' Keep your communication line open and get as far away as possible for a transmission to reach you. I'll let you know if it is safe to come back or run.'' '' W-what? You can't expect me to—'' he said with a slightly angry tone. '' You'll be the only one who will be able to get help. Now go!'' with a strict voice, the woman pointed at the escape path and as the fat man turned to leave hesitantly, she looked after him and then turned back and ran on. 02:20 am Most of the security devices have been destroyed? How? The woman stared at the computer screen which was flickering due to the damage done to the cables and the screen itself. The bulding was burning and dead, burned bodies lay everywhere. Did he do all this? Probably used certain weapons of theirs to his use. The woman shook her head in disbelief. This wasn't supposed to happen, not when they-- Who was the one to check the security devices? The ones which would keep him at bay? She turned around and started towards the exit to get to the other building where the one still intact device lay. 02:30 am On her way there, she came across a burned path right through the small forest. The trees were still burning and the smell of burned flesh filled her nose. Her run became faster as more and more worry and fear started filling her body. 02:40 am Screams filled her ears as she went down into the building, the air eearily cold. She knew the boy was strong without the limiters, but to think he'd be as strong as to kill everyone? She had thought of the possibility, but she never predicted the devices to shut off. Did they perhaps shut down on their own? How wou--? As she reached the last steps and found an opened door, her dread rose. There were no screams anymore. 02:45 am She knew she had to get out of there, but she couldn't turn around. It would probably cost her her own life and she knew it was a poor decision on her part, but she couldn't turn around... not now when she knew he was close. Her son. Adopted son, but they've made a strong bond. As foolish as it was of her to feel something for him. Walking through the frozen corridor, the bodies of her friends lay broken, some in pieces, others frozen as if time froze when they saw the boy come in, their faces still filled with surprise and joy. Nobody really suspected this, did they? There weren't even alarms once the devices shut down... who did this? The Item wasn't capable of this. 02:48 am At the end of the corridor, in a room with a device glowing red, stood a 14 year old looking boy with blonde hair. His back turned to the woman, looking up at the device, surrounded by smears of blood, pieces of meat and bones. Almost nothing was left of the bodies. The woman stared. She didn't feel any horror at the sight, just pure sadness. As if the boy finally noticed her presence, he turned around. His lifeless eyes glowing a light blue. He looked the same as he did the day she found him. Lost. The device shattered then, giving off a stronger glow of red and for a moment making the boy look like an angel of death, with his untouched clothes, clean and pretty face and glowing, lifeless light blue eyes. She opened her mouth to say something, but energy slammed into her sending her flying into the air. As she fell back to the ground, softening her fall with her own energy. It didn't help much, but at least she didn't hit her head. She lay there on her stomach, breathing painfully, her ribs most probably broken. Footsteps. Then she felt a leg under her and he turned her around. Even if she did try fighting back now, she knew that there would be no way to beat him. Which is why she mustered all her strenght to turn on the communication device they used, in hopes the only one who survived this would hear and get the hint. '' Eth... an... I'm... sorry...'' She muttered heavily looking up at him with a small smile on her face. A single tear streaming down her face as he put his hand over her, his face devoid of any emotion. I'm sorry we couldn't protect you. 03:02 am He hoped that running would tire him out enough so he didn't need to think about it. All his friends were dead, he knew it the moment his commander turned on the communication link and heard her heavy 'Ethan, I'm sorry'. He was the sole survivor and yet he didn't have a clue as to what happened for things to turn out the way they did. As he ran, he started sobbing quietly, even when the tears started blinding him, he didn't stop. He knew what he had to do.
