girl i get that it sucks to have ur artistic efforts go unacknowledged but its not like im rolling in artistic acclaim and success because i "learned how to draw anime at 14" or whatever...

#like i let it go because its not worth it to argue with someone i have barely any relationship with and i honestly did not care at the time #but its like...#okay yes i have enough technical skill to draw human faces and anatomy reasonably well and my style could be described as 'anime' or at lea #st 'anime adjacent' ig but i did put genuine time and effort into learning those technical skills.... literal years btw #like yeah abstract and non realistic art is undervalued but it was just like... a weird comment to make like okay.

as much as I'd really love to talk about my book and share it with y'all I'm gonna probably stop mentioning it altogether because tbh even though I'm not ashamed of my views, I really don't want my presence as an author to be linked to my opinions on political matters, full stop.

I don't want to be an activist. I just want people to read my books and enjoy them.

#gonna rant in da notes #im very protective of labelling oneself as a writer #like some of the people who do that just...#like they ARE writers right #but theyre on a very different playong field #and entirely different level from what i do #and what i want to do #to have them compare their writing to mine isnt insulting or anything #because obv they arent saying fantasy novels equal slash fiction #but its like...#youre similar to me in the way a pianist is similar to a drummer #i do not relate to your experiences #you likely will not relate to mine #im not better or worse or whatever than these other people #im just aiming for something they are not #and working towards it in likely a more serious and dedicated manner #though there's no shade intended with that #but ngl all the memes about having ideas and never writing about them #and stuff along those linss #lines*#im always like #????#no thats not how you improve or learn #you dont have to post everything you write online #theres always the opportunity to restart a project #or edit like crazy #and ngl half these people hardly know the meaning of editing genuinely #learn from your errors by actually putting the hours in #you dont have to write 24/7 or anywhere close #just like... actually decide how serious you are

Never EVER decide to not make or post something just because someone else did something similar or even did the exact same thing. Everyone does things differently and has different ways of explaining. I greatly value your opinion and I love hearing what you have to say about things, so it makes me sad when you say you're not gonna do something cuz you saw someone else do it. Do what you want!!
