For this ask game here
☔- Is there a fic concept you have that you'd like to just explain and share because you're not sure you'll ever write it? If so, what is it?
Definitely my royalty AU
The premise behind this is that the dads and kiddads have always lived in Faerune, and are, in fact, royalty. The dads met as an adventuring party when they were younger, Henry wanting to escape his responsibilities and overbearing father, and the others not being royalty at the time. The focus, though, is on the kiddads
Henry is the King of Oakvale, having taken over from Bear'ry (possibly in a coop, don't worry about it), and there's no small amount of concern over which twin rules. Current leaning is towards Sparrow, as he has a wife and two children.
Terry Jr is the Duke of Roquetporte, Samantha was the regent after Terry Sr's death until Terry actually came of age to rule. He's the only one of the kiddads who's actually *ruling*, but also has the least power out of all of them except Grant. His infertility is kept deeply under wraps, and while he didn't marry Veronica, a commoner who moved to Roquetporte a few years ago, because of her child, Scary may just be the answer to his heir problem. If only she didn't hate hi.
Darryl is literally just a knight who gained some small land and titles for his adventuring feats. Grant is Terry's captain of the guard, and also acts as a personal bodyguard even though he doesn't really need to. He's having a covert affair with Terry and also living with/unofficially married to Marco (don't worry, he knows). Grant found baby Linc orphaned and abandoned when his army arrived to protect a town that was being attacked, and took him in.
Jodie is, obviously, king of Hell. Morgan is the captain of the guard, and kept the title of queen consort even after the divorce, mainly because that's just how people still treat her even though she's not. Glenn is technically the jester of the court, because Jodie has to give him some position on account of being Morgan's new husband and possibly Nicky's dad, but he refuses to make it respectful. Nicky is, of course, the prince, and Taylor stays with Cassandra, nobility and ex princess consort, due to assassination threats.
Scam Actually is a member of the Goofs' Realm Court, and he and Jodie had a very public and very tumultuous affair. The result of this is Hermie, who can live neither in the Goofs' Realm or Hell, because now Hell and the Goofs are on very strained terms, and him spending time in either place is seen as "taking sides". So, Jodie and Scam agreed that he would be sent to Terry, a neutral party with little power, in order to prevent tensions from rising.
Hermie has a very firmly mentor/student dynamic with Terry, and refuses to see him as any sort of father figure, despite having been basically raised by him. Terry mostly respects this, and tries to raise him as an heir to both Hell's throne and Goof nobility, even though he will never rule in Hell unless both Taylor and Nicky die. He's also trying desperately to get through Hermie's attachment complex Linc is also being raised alongside Hermie and fucking hates this. This random kid is taking away Uncle Terry's attention! Especially since Grant has trained him in self-defence, and he's slightly expected to act as a bodyguard to Hermie, in addition to the actual guards. Add Scary to the mix, who really doesn't want to be here, but has to join in Linc and Hermie's lessons/training, and you get a whole trainwreck happening in Roquetporte
In terms of political system structure, basically there's an interplane Royal Court, which has representatives from every plane. It has some social aspects, such as balls and meetings, but is primarily a council for policy-making and overseeing peace between realms. Somewhat similar to the UN in that respect.
Then, each plane has their own courts and structure. Hell has a Tudor style royal court, with the Royal family and various nobility, servants, etc. It's both a physical place, a position (i.e. a member of the Court), and a concept. It's an equal mix of social aspects, dining together, various events and entertainment, etc; and actually running the kingdom, though not everyone in the Court participates in both, and often not in equal amounts. The Goofs realm is more hazy to me, but in my head they have a Queen. I can't explain why Farerune doesn't have a single royal family or authority, but is instead a collective of smaller kingdoms/provinces. Both Terry and Henry attend this court, though Henry has significantly more power as a king, whilst Terry's responsibilities extend only to Roquetporte and surrounding settlements and land. He would also answer to a larger authority that controls that area of Faerune, but I haven't decided who that is. Ravenloft is another province of Faerune, however it is uninhabited since Willy died/disappeared, and thus the subject of many a debate over who actually has to deal with the castle. Luckily, there's no people living there to worry about, but the building and land are still of concern.
Also, some form the Betrayal definitely did happen, and Nicky hasn't appeared in the Interplane Royal Court for years because of it. Yes, Jodie sent his other son to Terry despite the Betrayal. Don't worry about it
(Also, Mark Likely is the only one who actually visits Hermie, because neither of his dads can, and Terry fucking hates it. He does not like her at all, because of his treatment of Ron in the past, but also he's not going to deny Hermie the chance to see his auntuncle who's also the only family member who he actually gets to see ever)
I'm using this extremely tenuous connection to say it's kinda bonkers that Welcome Home has gotten so much buzz before the story has, y'know, happened yet.
Me: okay Brain, I would like to write a Colossus x OC Enemies to Lover fic. Can I please have a plot to go with it?
My brain: no…you get the overall ✨ideas✨ and ✨feelings✨ of the fic and no plot :)

Writer's block and raging inspiration are waging war in my head...help
as I see a cool writing prompt I sigh and add another wip to my list of ongoing writing projects
Shoot. I’m basically done with the phone sex scene where Jaime’s at the bar and now I want to post it but it would mean I’d be jumping over at least two other chapters. Normally I’d just table it and wait (for example, I wrote a full confrontation scene that’s not going to happen until almost the end of this story and I’m fine sitting on that) but it’s not like this is a super coherently plotted story and I feel like jumping around in their escapades could work? Am I fooling myself?
I have lost the ability to make decisions. This quarantine thing has messed me up.
