I've realised something.

I don't just ship my otp because it seems like it would be really cute if they went out. That's what happens when I just ship something. My OTP - I need it. It makes me happy. It's what I think of when I've had a terrible day, and it makes me smile. It makes me feel like there are still things in the world worth fighting for, like I can still be passionate about something, I'm not just numb like I thought. It makes me think love is possible - real, unadulterated, mutual love between two people that could potentially not go away and hurt someone. 

So when you insult my otp - when you point out why it's not canon or not adorable or call it creepy or call me weird for shipping it - I don't just freak out at you because I ship it and think it's cute. I freak out and scream because if for any amount of time I believed you, a little part of me would die inside. I would lose what hope I have left. It's not about the ship, it's about me. I need my otp. And if I let that go, I don't think I'd have anything left.
