Alexei tries to take her in as a surrogate daughter, but Antonia has no idea what a healthy father-daughter relationship looks like and keeps shying away.
Yelena feels a sort of kinship with her, which Antonia slowly accepts.
Since Bob also has Yelena as an older sister figure, they wind up in the same room more often than not, and Antonia learns that not all men want to control her.
Slowly, she stops shutting down when Alexei approaches her. Slowly, she stops flinching when a teammate throws an arm over her shoulder.
