Hx is like the sun in an eclipse that lost its light cause of the moon, sw is the moon in question, and sqx is the star by analogy with the sun, they are kind of the same thing from birth with hx, but sqx is dimmer and shines from far away cause he was born an ordinary person.

autistic jack harkness is just soooo. idk. it means a lot to me which is probably why i yap about it so often but its so wild to me that i almost never saw any1 bring it up outside of my posts sjhgskj. like aside from the obvious wearing the same outfit for 200+ years straight he also is very low empathy to me.

like in the several episodes where everyone gets so fucking angry at him for making the logically safest choice (giving the girl to the fairies, keeping the hospital of ppl taken by the rift secret and not telling the victims' families, killing steven) instead of the more morally correct one is just. its so interesting and extremely relatable to me. bc he's clearly affected by his actions and the response that he gets from making them but everyone still is furious with him bc he didn't act the Right Way. he's not being a Good Person. as if that concept could ever apply to a member of torchwood. and he has to stand by and deal with the aftermath of his descions on his own because no one else understands him because how could they. he's an immortal being from the far future. which is not a metaphor for anything at all dont worry about it.

and also on a slightly sillier note. his flirting with everything that moves is imo very obviously his way of masking. at first it was something he liked to do and probably brought him comfort, and while it still is just for fun sometimes nowadays it's just how he gets through life. that's the most acceptable way that he can be "weird" without everyone treating him like a monster. he flirts with everyone because that's "just what jack does". because it's normal to everyone else. because anytime they see his true colors they treat him like an alien. so it's easier to act the way they expect him to, the way they want him to. because it's what he's used to. because it's what works. because being visibly queer in the early 2000s is the most acceptable form of "weird" for him to be.
