jack, whose entire childhood is centered on them being a "freak" because of their powers, who was mistrusted and threatened to be killed by their own father figure, who was inadvertently the cause of their mother's (and mary's) death, and who was almost manipulated into using their powers for things they had no intention of doing by the person who was responsible for them in the first place, even though they themself never wanted to do anything but good and save/change the world:
