I'm here to serve trans women not in a tnwo way but in a butch chivalry way where so many tgirls have never gotten the princess treatment they deserve and it's my duty to remedy that!

im making a collection
My mom and I got drunk together tonight. We had a long conversation about what it means for me to be a lesbian, the significance this identity has to me, and how this will affect my life. For context, my mom is painfully supportive of me.
She brought up the power that a butch can hold in a relationship, especially when one (like myself) aims to be the breadwinner/"head of household", so to speak. She made me promise her to remain mindful of this power imbalance, and to make sure I'm always taking care of whatever girl I end up with in the future.
I think it's important for us butches to remember to be mindful. We are so lucky to be able to gain and hold the trust of the femmes who choose to allow us to take care of them. It's beautiful, and the balance must be respected. Just because you might make more money or hold more social status does not mean that your femme is lesser than. She is never decoration, she is never a trophy. Our femmes lift is up, complete us, and make us whole while ALSO being incredibly, strong, intelligent, and powerful beings separate of us. We wouldn't be the same without them, nor would they be without us. It's essential that we remain thankful of our femmes for everything they do for us.
I love femmes so much. And so does my mom, apparently.
what are some things butches like their femmes to do for them? the conversation around chivalry has been pretty understandably heated recently, so i’m really curious as to how femmes can reciprocate in a validating way, if that makes sense.
It makes me so sad the animosity between transmascs/transfemmes on here. My real world life is filled with trans women and they know that i will run to their side as soon as they cry for help and we grieve together and eat good food together and rock together and then we continue to make beautiful art and help our community or just sit still and try to survive and we love each other and are the closest thing we can be to happy in this fucking hellscape. Do that more ok. Get off the internet.
Hi Essie, I wanna thank you for your post on butch chivalry. As a blasian butch with Chinese mum, it's refreshing to see Confucian values being talked about in Butchfemme space. I been a butch for near 20 years and live out west. This value is so innate to me, I can't "undo" it simply because a fem/me isn't available to me. Butches in my generation talk shit load about chivalry, yet I've seen how they falter the moment someone view them as anything but "good"/"knightly". Being real with you, it is isolating, and downright insanity the way I ever thought that I'm doing butchness wrong because western concepts of chivalry feels empty to me. So thank you, you're doing a good job.
Anon... thank you so much for this. But really I don't deserve any credit, my relationship with Chinese and confucian values is solely because of my mom 🥹 I suggest checking out @knightfaetality since he talks about Asian activism and Chinese culture! All I did was just sharing my experience w it and why I view western "butch chivalry" the way I do 🥰🩷
