In terms of Social economic it was obvious that when memo was squatting on the outskirts of the city he was try to do one thing, and that is to make money through work on the other side of the border. Today that same phenomena is evident, there are thousands of Mexicans who are living right next to the border in the dirt and very unsteady huts trying to cross the border in order to get to the other side and get a job and make some money.
In terms of technological it is evident that in both the future and in the present one of largest reason that we are advancing technology is to get closer, but we end up getting further away from each other. In the movie they all “connect” in order to vanquish the miles that they are apart but in reality what happens is that they get so consumed with the technology that they lose focus with the people around them. In present time this can be seen by kids with smartphones, instead of actually doing stuff in the real world they do everything in the virtual world.
Lastly the comparison of the future and the present can be seen through the ecological change of the future. In the future freshwater is a scarcity and therefore companies start to buying rivers and lakes so that they can sell water to make a lot of profits. This is evident today and with OPEC and how the cartel is fixing prices because we need oil to live our lives, luckily we can use alternate technology and get off our dependency of oil, but we can’t get off our dependency of water and that’s why it is a lot worse in the future.
San Jose is a metropolis, it is located in the center of the bay area and is also my hometown. The reason that San Jose is a border city is because it is there are so many people from around the world that immigrate there. In most border cities there are people from both sides on both sides of the border, in this aspect San Jose is a Border city because it is a melting pot of so many other races in one place. Because San Jose is in the bay area it is very strong in the technological aspect. Many immigrants are pushing education so that their kids can go into the fields that are so prominent in the bay area, engineering and science. It is great to see that in the future there will be a lot of diversity in the amount of scientist and engineers we have instead of just white scholars.
The second socioeconomically condition is also very interesting in the metro pole of San Jose. Like I mentioned earlier many of the immigrates that come to San Jose hope for their children to have better lives and do the jobs that are most prominent in the bay area. Some of these parents are also educated from their home countries and therefore are doing very well but there majority of the people that come over as immigrants are not educated and therefore have to do other blue collar jobs. So in San Jose many immigrants are lower on the socioeconomic scale and strive for their children to take the leap to the upper part of the scale. So in the Future depending on how the children of these immigrants do, they would be more high class diversity that would then get rid of a lot of racism and inequality.
The third, ecological condition in San Jose is all about Global Warming. San Jose being in the heart of the bay area has a lot of innovation including the tesla motors company, this company is pushing for the United States to get off of their dependency of oil in order to switch to a better electricity option. Not only that but San Jose is in California, one of the most liberal states and therefore they heavily push for solar, wind, and water alternatives to our oil dependency. In the future there will be more and more innovations to the point where we will be at a self-sustained nation, we would no longer have to rely on other countries for coal or oil or anything else. #ou���n�
