Howdy’s all buzzed about the new neighbor!
The talk about the new neighbor had circled all around the neighborhood, it had definitely went round enough that it reached the bodega owning caterpillar’s ears!
He loved new faces and he especially loved welcoming them into the neighborhood.
He waited quite excitedly for the new neighbor to come around and visit his shop, a friendly and happy smile over his face.
When the bells over his door finally jingled, Howdy sprung up with a smile.
“Howdy! Welcome!” He greeted as usual, smiling.
Only to pause.
Wait a second…
Where was the customer?
“What in the world…?” He murmured, scratching the top of his head. “Now, I know I heard those bells ring…” He frowned a little, moving out of the counter and towards the door.
“Ow!”
He felt a something bump against his leg. He flinched, staring down.
“Oh, hello!” He blurted out in surprise, stepping back.
There was the new neighbor! You! With twirly antennas and wings behind your back, as well as what looked to be something protruding from behind you. Why… You must be a bee! Now that explains the black and yellow coloring on your clothing.
“I am so sorry! Didn’t see ya there!” Howdy was startled.
Goodness you were quite short!
Why, even shorter than Wally!
“It’s okay!” You smiled up at him, then you started realized just how tall he was.
How tall was this guy??
Goodness he was quite tall!
“You must be the new neighbor, right?” He asked you with a smile, needing to look down on you.
Heavens, compared to you he was just massive!
“Yep! That’s me! Pleasure to meet you!” You held a hand out towards him, the other leaning down just to reach you properly.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you, too! My name is Howdy, Howdy Pillar! What’s yours, neighbor?” He shook hands with you, a bright grin on his face.
“(Name) ! Call me (Name)! Wonderful to meet you, Howdy!” You giggled, letting go of his hand.
“So, ah… Welcome to Howdy’s Place! Seeing as you’re new around these parts, it’s a special discount for you. 100% off!” Howdy smiled.
It was a bit troublesome for both parties to look each other in the eye, so you decided you had enough of the neck pain.
Your wings started to flutter, your feet slowly lifting off the ground.
Howdy watched you in amazement as you started to fly up to his height, finally being able to properly meet his eyes.
“Well, hello, you!” Howdy couldn’t help but laugh, he thought you looked quite cute!
“Hi! How’s the weather up here?” You asked him with a laugh of your own.
Now that really cracked him up! Howdy burst out laughing again, shaking his head.
“You’re funny! I like that!“ He calmed down with a chuckle, sighing a bit. “Go ahead and pick out anything you’d like, neighbor! It’s on the house!” He smiled at you.
“Alrighty, Howdy! Thanks a lot!” You smiled back at him, wings fluttering behind you.
As you looked through the shop, Howdy couldn’t help but watch as you did. He was quite amazed by your wings, you really did move like a bee with how you flew around. He stayed by the counter, arms crossed and the other two placed on the counter surface.
He wondered if he would be able to fly around with you if he ever turned into a butterfly. Would you two race? Would you just fly together?
So wonderful to think about!
Finally you had chosen your item, it was a drink that you liked the most. You flew towards the counter, placing the item down.
“And that’s one (favorite drink)… Would ya like me to bag it for you?” He asked with a friendly smile.
“Nope, no thanks!” You shook your head, politely declining.
“Alrighty, neighbor! Here ya go.” He handed you your drink, chuckling as you stared at it with wonder.
“Thanks a lot, Howdy! I best get going then, wouldn’t wanna buzz around here for too long!” You giggled, holding the cool drink in your hands.
“Don’t worry! You were never a buzz-er!” Howdy laughed, you couldn’t help but join along with him. “But, oh, alright. If you have to go… Just bee safe now!” He chuckled.
“Oh, you just wont stop, huh? Alright, I’ll see you around, Howdy!” You opened the bodega door, then landed on the floor. You didn’t feel like exhausting yourself by flying any longer.
“I’ll see you soon, (Name)! It was lovely meeting you!” He waved at you as you left, leaning over the counter with a hand on his cheek.
He sighed with another chuckle, smiling to himself.
“What a buzz…” He shook his head.
Needless to say, Howdy looked forward to seeing you again!
