Timber location boards Signs to mark a whistle Railway lines peeking through Gravel, grass and thistle. Each poignant reminders Often leaving me euphoric Of the signifance of each location Each is deeply historic. Maggies Magpies are exceptional parents And as I can attest They’ll get all close and personal When you get near their nest. You could go another way Or get off and walk your bike Some people say to feed them You can do that if you like. Add zip ties to your helmet To your helmet add a brim Add on some bird scarer tape To protect your ears within. I wear a full face helmet It helps to be prepared They can swoop me all they like And I don’t have to be scared. It’s only for a few months And when we share their territory We have ways to respect them Or so it seems to me. Sunday My beautiful wife and I Went to Coominya for a drive The day was crisp and clear A great day to be alive. The station was so beautiful And though the trains are gone Such magnificent infrastructure Means their memory will live on.
