BWEIRDART OC-TOBER DAY 19: Inspiration

I remember when Red Dead Redemption 2 came out sometime in 2018 which was when the development of my ocs really began to get going. Vicks storyline was heavily influenced by it and I still think about it often Also, this might? Be my last submission for oc tober. I’m kinda gassed out tbh lmao. Maybe I’ll do 3 more to really wrap it up but idk. I had a lot of fun though!!! This is the farthest I’ve gone in a october art challenge. I hope you all had fun!!

The Future of Tyria's Hero

Now that you have saved Tyria from the latest global crisis, what's in the future for you?

"My Wyld Hunt has always driven me towards a goal. As it stands, I'm unsure if my hunt is complete, or ever will be. Either way, I will still set out to protect those in need, aid others in whatever way I can."

Do you see yourself looking different than what you used to? Do Sylvari age like other races do?

"Since we are different than other races, awakening under the Pale Tree fully formed, I don't believe we age the same way, if at all. The closest to 'aging' you'll get from me is the addition of any scars from my battles."

How do you see your life's story ending?

"I'm not sure. I've never really put much thought into it, since you can never know what tomorrow brings. I've thought about many things that could occur in my life. The best I can do is wait and see what that may bring."

A Dive Into the Past of Chrysallus

 As someone who was present for Chrys's early years, is there anything you can confirm about his saplinghood?

"Admittedly, he was very restless, perfectionistic, and seen as a bit of an outcast. Many saw his interest in splinter factions and how they behaved such as the Soundless and the Nightmare Court. As my student at the time, it was difficult not to tear heads off for spreading rumors about him. Especially when I found out later how clearly he heard these whispers within the Grove."

Speaking of the Grove, was that where he spent most of his time in his early years?

"Yes. He still has a home in the Grove, one that he has allowed me free rein in while he's away. Until recently, the Grove is where I spent much of my downtime between crises. I'm a mender, and sometimes called upon for combat training new sprouts with an interest in mesmerism and illusions."

Were there any moments in Chrys's early years that shaped who he is today?

"..... I won't go too much into detail, but I did hear that he had seen a vision of Mordremoth's champion in the Dream they day he awakened beneath the Pale Tree. I heard from other Sylvari that were present that he reached out to the dragon rampaging through the Dream. I've heard the rumors and gossip, of him being tempted by Nightmare, of him wanting destruction of Tyria. It's a miracle he didn't join the Court with those nasty rumors about him. I... I don't know if he ever emotionally recovered from that, if I'm being completely honest. He's been a bit touched by paranoia because of this, and it shows at times, about how others see him."

Such as the campaign against Mordremoth?

"Yes... It's no secret, but the stress of the campaign affected him greatly, as did other Sylvari present in the fight. Even more so as a leader, I feel. I believe that fight against the Jungle Dragon has only deepened that sense of paranoia about him."

Commander Chrysallus: A View from those closest to Tyria's Hero

You two are closest to the Commander. How would you describe his personality?

"He's actually really sweet and kind. Chrys may be a little restless at times, but he means well."

"... Are we even talking about the same guy? He has a twisted sense of humor. Did you forget the bet we had in Jahai?"

"If I recall, didn't you throw down the gauntlet and dare him to make the attempt?"

"Didja not see the smirk on his face? He knew what the hell he was doing! He likes to take my challenges to spite me!"

"I fail to see how that makes a difference."

"He's a sadistic man! Playing it up for everyone else to see others suffer! You'll see!"

"See, things like this is why people think you're delusional."

 What are some positive traits about the Commander?

"Begrudgingly, he is very considerate of other people."

"You make it sound like that's a problem."

"It's annoying because he seems like a psychic every time he levels with me. I don't like being seen as an open book to someone like him!"

"... I am not even going to try and unpack that. But yes, Chrys tries to be considerate to everyone's needs. He also tends to be very insightful about the people around him."

 What are some negative traits about him?

"........"

"No comment there, lapdog?"

"That's rich coming from you."

"If you're not gonna say shit about him, I will; he tries so hard to be the perfect saint to everyone around him. I don't know what his deal is, but there's a difference between his actual kindness and borderline obsession with being seen as 'the good guy'."

"I will admit, he's a bit perfectionistic. It used to be a lot worse when he was a sapling, but he's gotten better about it these days."

"Sometimes I wonder..."

Would you say he's more of an introvert or an extrovert?

"Hmm... I'd say a bit of both?"

"Chrys doesn't usually initiate conversation, but he has no problem carrying one. He's more likely to keep to himself if left alone, but he won't say no to another's company."

Day 6: Symbols

 - What imagery do you associate with your OC?

I can always see him with a cat (the Catmander Chrysallus comments are endless), staring out into space, usually at night. Multi-colored fairy lights flickering like fireflies and will-o-wisps, something that happens when he's deep in thought, or zoned out so hard that he just lets his mesmer magic roam in the immediate area.

He's a wandering soul; he blends into his surroundings surprisingly easy, hardly standing out despite his bright color palette in outfits. He always feels like the outsider looking in, even in his own social circles. He's a background character in his own tale, which is actually really sad sounding now that I've typed that out.

 - Are there any colours, flowers, animals, or concepts that symbolize them?

Well, since "concepts" was an option: Chrys has always been interested in "duality" specifically, and anyone who has a single meaningful conversation about it with him will learn that. As such, things like reputation and only hearing one side of the story tends to sit very poorly with him. He's also got a very heavy symbol as being cat-like, for better or worse.

Breaking: We finally hear about the Commander's personal life!

Who would you say is the most important person in your life?

"That would be Aurienal. As previously mentioned, they are my most trusted friend."

Do you have a partner?

"Many seem to believe that Auri and I are together in a romantic sense. Let me say this now: No, we're not sleeping together; we are not in a romantic relationship. If anything, you could say we are life partners in a sense, since it's rare to see us apart, especially in recent times. Beyond that, I am single. And before anyone seeing this gets brave, I am not interested in pursuing that type of relationship at this time. * "

 Other than Auri, do you have others you'd consider to be friends? Even other best friends?

"Taimi and Gorrik give me plenty of things to debate and consider about the world. Fun little theories to bounce back and forth. Arioch is also one I would consider close enough to be a friend, though many may protest at this. Canach is another that I feel very close to."

Do you have anyone that you consider to be like family to you? If so, how close do you feel to that family?

"I'm a firm believer of found family circles, especially since we Sylvari are nomadic outside of the Grove. Truth be told, I don't consider other sylvari 'family' despite us all being awakened from the same Pale Tree. As such, Auri is part of my family circle. Taimi and Gorrik, again, would technically be also be part of my family circle, I think. Hm... never really gave it much thought, now that I think about it. I'll have to spend some time to consider my other relationships."
