I just love when Spanish people says that the independence movement started just 40 years ago.
Yeah, because before that we lived in a DICTATORSHIP.
People were arrested only for speaking in Catalan, Catalan people had to had their names translated into Spanish. What do the Spanish think that would have happened if the people went to the demonstrations on the independence of Spain back then?
We would all be dead.
And has to do with my desire to vote with that?
Is the desire for independence less legitimate, if hadn't started 200 years ago?
Spain has been bombarding Barcelona for more than 200 years, perhaps not for the independence, but for having different opinions.
And although the independence movement had begun yesterday, we don't have the right to vote for it?
If until a few weeks ago I was going to vote that No, I did not have the right to that, to want to remain united to Spain? Never has an independentist denied my right to vote no. But Spain has done that.
My desire for independence began yesterday, is not it legitimate then? I have no right to change my mind? I do not have the right to vote?
Apparently not in Spain, so now I'm an independentist.
