Erina Kumada

While I did go more punk style for Ninomiya, I decided to make it a little less apparent in kumada’s design since dekochari bikes are so different from motorcycles in terms of aesthetic. I didn’t wanna make her too eccentric but I also didn’t wanna make her too biker gang-y if that makes sense. I wanted her to wear more colorful clothing.

Other than that her design’s pretty simple. Honestly it didn’t go through as many changes as some of the other characters, but I feel like it matches Kumada well. The main goal of these redesigns is to still make the characters recognizable, which is probably why there’s not much change in terms of hair and face. (Kumada isn’t the only character this applies to, a lot of the pink characters were like this too)

Now I normally don’t talk about the backgrounds but I felt like a genius coming up with this one. So like, have you seen a dekochari bike? Those things look insane. They’re like, decked out in lights and accessories and honestly they look like something you’d see in a casino. To any pokemon fans out there, they look a lot like the starmobiles from pokemon scarlet and violet (that was probably the inspiration lol). But yeah I just looked at some references and lined up some shapes of color to look like the bright, neon lights on a dekochari bike. It might not mean much but it was fun doing the research :)
